James Webb Satellite took a fantastic shot of the Planet Saturn with it's Near Infrared Camera (NIRCam) and the Mid-Infrared Instrument (MIRI). This is just an Amazing shot that shows the planet and the rings in brilliant detail.

The author of this article, trying to make out that we “misunderstood” the disgraceful lying words that came out of Trump’s mouth and “misinterpreted” his actions in excluding Ukraine from peace negotiation with his typical bullying stance, is Sam Bessant the US Treasury secretary

I celebrate the 80% of Germans who did not vote for the far right. Do not make 19.6% of German voters into "the" German people (again). "The" German people don't exist! The German population is diverse and divided, but voted overwhelmingly for liberal democratic parties. #BTW25 #GermanElection

Why is this not on every UK news channel this morning?

And this in Foreign Policy, on how Trump sold myth that US is in economic and geopolitical decline -- which isn't true.

"Now or never" - @thecontinent.org. Thread: While Europe was getting scolded at its own Munich Security Conference, African leaders were in Ethiopia for the annual African Union summit. As @simonallison.bsky.social explained, it was a critical summit, with Africa facing a new Trump led world order.

Tally just ticked past 1900 signatures. Please keep spreading the word about the letter & asking people to sign. It's important to make the Royal Society aware (at their meeting on 03 March) just how much the scientific community wants them to speak up for their values. forms.gle/SfsDemyS8QhP...

Ukraine needs to see our solidarity more than ever now 🇬🇧🇺🇦🇪🇺

i am going to put a finer point on this: executive orders are not laws. and they certainly are not royal decrees. they are interpretations of existing law for the purposes of enforcement. the fact that so many people are treating them as laws is actually driving me a bit insane.

I had insomnia the night Russia invaded Ukraine and watched it unfold in real time. And tonight watching, here in London, that's what it feels like again. A dark, implacable malevolent takeover. That's accompanied by almost total silence amid so much noise. open.substack.com/pub/broligar...

Here's a thing! My new book is out with @routledgehistory.bsky.social. Sort of. Officially, Remembering England: Cultural Memory in the Sagas of Icelanders, will be released on 18 March. But if you have institutional access, it's already available on the Taylor & Francis website.

Just now, during the Children's Wellbeing and Schools Bill committee stage, MPs (led by the Government) voted down an amendment that would have prevented the bill from allowing new 100% faith-selective schools. Some of the MPs leading this charge have direct financial ties to faith school lobbies..

“This is not just about Heathrow, banking regulations or benefit fraud crackdowns. It is about whether my party can offer a vision of growth that actually works for the people who need it most – or whether it will leave that space open for its populist opponents to fill.”

1/ I don’t want 1970s style top-down, centralised nationalisation of our water. I want public ownership. There are so many ways to do public ownership—and my Water Bill wants to consider all of them.

I'm hearing a lot from the media NGO sector about the impact of USAID cuts. A lot of small investigative media organisations across the globe are facing imminent closure as the funding they've budget for has vanished overnight, and the funder community has no capacity to absorb the shock.

The reason Musk is carrying this all out with a gaggle of sycophant students on average not old enough to buy a beer is because out of all the John Eastman types and Project 2025 guys and Chris Rufos and Fox News hosts, this was too much of an anti-constitutional obvious crime spree for *them.*

Our all-in-one feeding, bedding, nutrient cycling, health sustaining and muck handling system for great food production

Ultimately it matters not if your constitution is written or unwritten or codified or uncodified… …once those in power do not recognise political or legal rules higher than their own personal or partisan advantage it is constitutional ‘game over’. Constitutions need constitutionalism, most of all.

People eep getting upset with Starmer's approach to Trump and the EU. I also find it infuriating, given that it's like watching someone equivocate between Darth Vadar and Princess Leia. But it must be perfectly obvious by now what his strategy is.

Almost 2 million people in the UK didn’t have the right ID to vote in 2024. "Using data from the British Election Study, we tracked people eligible to vote between 2023 and 2024 and found that 5% of people eligible to vote – nearly 2 million people – didn’t own any recognised voter identification."
