The European mind cannot understand this

One thing I’m wondering, are we talking about nationalising the hospices? I wouldn’t be against it! But is that what hospices really definitely want?

Hospital teams rarely share information about patients' limited life expectancy with GPs, even though GPs find this very helpful in planning patient care. Research by Lucy Pocock & @lucyselman.bsky.social et al. published in @bjgp.bsky.social & covered in Pulse: pulsetoday.co.uk/news/clinica...

Here's the thing about trans people and echo chambers: We don't have 'em. We're all experts on the anti-trans side, their arguments, their petty bigotries. The same is not true in reverse.

I think this is really important and if we (society) want AD then I wish the government would just embark on a proper process to get consensus, create a full package, including how it will in practice work, then offer that up for a parliamentary vote. The current way lacks bravery and leadership.

Talking to a lot of backbench MPs today about assisted dying and absolutely no one I have spoken to has any idea how to vote. Have no idea how this is going to go…

I have no idea how the assisted dying debates/ votes will play out, but I have a bad feeling it will end up as a case study in the unsuitability of UK political culture and legislative process for this sort of thing.
