Unappealing? I can only speak for myself, but I found it super appealing. Not to mention hilarious. If only we could get election material like it in the mail today: it would almost make it worth reading again. Bring back the NLP! Lord knows we can all use more laughs!

Thank you. Signed a furious Canadian disgusted by all the so-called USian “progressives” who are alternating between joking and salivating at the thought of subjugating my sovereign country. I am not alone, and we will not forget or forgive this disgraceful behaviour.

Maybe so. Citation, ridden by Eddie Arcaro, won the Triple Crown in 1948 and was the source of Smylie's nickname.

Ha! Doug Smylie of the Argos was called Citation too; I wonder which one was Citation when the Argos played the Cats in '49 and the Bombers in the Mud Bowl.

The U of T tried this in 1875, at a time when they played a different code of football from rugby (or soccer). The Argos took them up on it, adapted so-so to their rules, and lost the game. They then challenged the students to a rematch using rugby rules and couldn't believe the students declined.

I would not have believed it possible that nobody knew this was coming; but that seems to be the case.

"The acquisition of Canada ... will be a mere matter of marching". (Thomas Jefferson, August 1812) Tecumseh and Brock showed them. Now it's our turn.

A blanket "buy Canadian" policy is open to question, alright. But people looking specifically to help Canadian companies weather tariff damage by giving them business seems fair enough.

Anyways, historians are awesome and everybody should study more history.
