As I said, horribly unimaginative and just weirdly vile, especially with other cancer/illness storylines so prominent (which I also hate). Absolutely no need for it. There are a million reasons Eileen could leave with Julie.

It's so horribly unimaginative. Nuts.

Tonight's was actually very good. Debbie though...as she's being used like she should be, just makes it all the more awful what they're doing.

I understand that the gentle pace of the Corrie of old probably won't cut it these days, but there's a happy medium I'm sure. There's good writing and lots of humour, but police interview room, hospitals, prisons, gangsters needs massive turning down in the mix.

Saw them in Cardiff last year. Bloody brilliant - you are in for such a treat. I think even better than when I saw them a couple of times the first time round.

I know. It's a very frustrating programme. It could be so good - cast are mainly great, some potentially fabulous characters. Everything is also tainted by that vandalism of killing off Debbie. Why can't they see it?

Don't...

Yes, that's more like it. Debbie was brilliant 😭

They feel longer. I fast forwarded the court scenes, they just feel like it's going through the motions. Couldn't care less.

Hooray! This is such good news. Nice guy I'm sure, but hopeless actor and awful character. Stephen should have killed him off at the time.

And I bet NONE of us want them to write Sue Devaney out... @itvcorrie.bsky.social

Yes, spot on. We live in hope. Though if it's true about Debbie Webster and how Sue Devaney feels, that could be the tin lid for me...

And if you can find a camper sentence than that last one on here, I'll be surprised! 😂

Enjoyed it. A real curiosity. They have a cute cartoon of the Street but with the wrong house missing. Also not seen those '60s pantomime episodes for a while. Now, slightly obsessed with Pat Phoenix singing 'Hey!Look me Over'...😂

I've never seen it. Have set the video, ready to tape it.

You've probably seen it already but on Boxing Day, @talkingpicturestv.bsky.social are showing the 1968 Coronation Street Christmas compilation with Jack and Annie reminiscing over Christmases past.

Really liked Kevin and Tim's friendship but they sidelined that for Steve and Tim rather.
Nothing beats Audrey and Alma or Deirdre and Liz though...

Me, too. It feels (mostly) better the last week or so.

These are great, thanks! The Shelley wedding one is best for me - as you say showcases the show's roots.
It strikes me that they don't do these so much these days because these stylistic features are being used in the show itself, e.g. Leanne's fantasy sequence last week. A mistake in my view.

Didn't know Judith McGrath had died (quite a while ok it turns out). I was once working in a department store in Sydney and sold her two South Park t-shirts for her nephews. She was very nice.

That was a great, horrible David return. And enjoying the Cassie /Ken / Adam stuff. Even Steve is not spoiling it too much.

Someone who is a long term fan and understands the DNA of the show needs to take charge. Drop it to three/ four episodes a week too (but can't see that happening anytime soon). I still mainly enjoy it but I fear for its future.

I think it's the frequency of these flashbacks etc, and coming on the back of the hideousness of Paul's ghost, the missing Lauren/Roy sequences, etc. The production team needs to embrace and lean into the soap traditions and not constantly want to make another genre.

Dear Margaret! Much missed and never far from my thoughts. I often wonder what she'd say about various subjects! 💜
