Love a bit of #AlanisMorissette - such a great song writer 😍 #glastonbury #bbciplayer

Tests pass locally, fail on GH actions / can’t find this, can’t find that, however visible on the screen dump - grr!

Saw this and thought of you @philgyford 😆 https://www.designboom.com/technology/worlds-narrowest-fiat-panda-drives-fully-functional-single-seater-electric-car-06-27-2025/

Very interesting to chat with an open reach engineer yesterday fitting FTTP. Once the cable was routed inside the house, he then split it to terminate the two halves in the grey box outside the house. Seems odd to me that that termination happens as they split the cable and then rejoined it in […]

Earlier in my career, I worked with a contractor who “stole” code from a previous contract - it was in the days of headers in files & he hadn’t changed the author or company name! His contract was terminated immediately & I think that was the right call. Today, you could use an LLM to generate […]

Time to stop burning England’s uplands 👊  The UK government’s proposal to tighten the Heather and Grass Burning Regulations is a chance to see England’s deep peat protected. Here's what our policy lead Oliver Newham has to say👇 https://www.rewildingbritain.org.uk/blog/time-to-put-down-the-matches

Time and time again when you have 2 x 5 car units coupled together, people end up on the wrong half, in the wrong class and occasionally on the wrong train. They are so hostile to passengers and yet, what will we get on the midland main line? 2 x 5 car units 🙃

I am livid! just had some posh twonk on the Guildford train announce to the carriage that I was being intense because I dared ask to get to the train doors, 10 seconds before the train stopped. I asked him if he had a problem and he said “you’re not from round here are you” - to which I replied […]

Thank you LNER, you can shut up now!

Wondering where my #EMR #train is to London - looks like it arrived in #Sheffield but then tootles off down the Worksop line for a rest, before coming back in the station, *checks watch* 10 minutes before departure. What fun! https://www.opentraintimes.com/schedule/Y08348/2025-06-18

This train is timetabled a super fast 1hr 58mins from St P to Sheffield, so instead of arriving under 2 hours, we are sat outside the station having been overtaken by a freight train and a local Northern service 🤷‍♂️

Protip from a hiring human: I often see #FediHire posts and I'd definitely like to BUT I rarely see person's location in the post. I'm less inclined to start a chat to find out where they are but if it is in the original post I would definitely get in touch if I could help. Why does it matter? […]

Happy #InternationalLynxDay 🐾 Today we’re celebrating the Eurasian lynx. This shy and elusive wild cat went extinct in Britain 1300 years ago, but now there’s hope for their return. 📹 1-3 kjekol, 2 Viktor Skalican, 4 James Shooter, 5 Sandra Dombrowski, 6 lookyfilm 1/2

Calling anyone with ears, England or Wales. There's a clinical trial of assistive technology, EarSwitch, that's running out of time to recruit enough volunteers. (An ad was running in my local surgery. Closing date is July.) You've got voluntary control of […] [Original post on mastodon.me.uk]

If you're ever taking trains in Europe, please checkout Chuuchuu: https://www.chuuchuu.com It's a great site that uses historical train delay data to better estimate good train rates and realistic transfer windows between trains and such. It seems like a must have to me but doesn't seem to be […]

https://benjaminaster.com/css-minecraft/ by Benjamin Aster is incredible! Editable Minecraft-style world, entirely CSS and HTML, not a single line of JS My notes on how it works here. It uses radio boxes for state, paused animations for controlling […] [Original post on fedi.simonwillison.net]
