Ground crews 💪

There's a shout out to Dave Gilbert and the IBCC Losses Database in this week's @nmtdambusters.bsky.social podcast with @sarahloumiller.bsky.social. @jamesjhistory.bsky.social @lydiajane13.bsky.social

Despite his heretical beliefs this is a tip top presentation from @jamesjhistory.bsky.social

It was great to welcome Sarah back on to the pod to discuss MANNA and EXODUS. We might have also chatted a bit about airfix kits and model making too. Out now folks!

Very excited to say I'll be back at Peterhouse College Cambridge this summer to teach two Introductory modules to WW2. Delighted to be back in Cambridge and especially Peterhouse 😊

Blast from the past this. My first Battle of Britain book that I had as a child. "Eagles High" by Peter North from the 50th Anniversary. My original copy that I read over and over. Same page samples below:

Also, grown ups

Paints, cutting board, and some brushes were the purchases yesterday (okay maybe a Spitfire kit fell into the basket too...). Now the task is to sort out the work desk...

Off to Hobbycraft this morning for some bits and bobs needed for Blenheim. The question is will I be able to resist buying an extra kit 😬

One of the most striking parts of this is how often aircrew talked about death with chaplains. So often you hear it wasn't discussed in squadrons ("I hear Dusty bought it" but not much else said, etc) but it seems it weighed heavily how their lives were being cut short and the pain of losing friends

Soon to be added to the IBCC Digital Archive. Leaving this without comment. @nmtdambusters.bsky.social @theaviation.show @wehaveways.bsky.social

I'm barely a few pages in and this is already proving an incredibly powerful read.

How many can you name? 😊

It begins...
