Me: "Shit, I better call my reps about preventing nuclear war." *pause* "...wait a second, how the hell did it become *my* job to prevent nuclear war?!"

SEATTLE: If you're looking for cheap rent and shared housing in a sweet part of Beacon Hill, my friend's got a room for you. seattle.craigslist.org/see/roo/d/se...

I never would have thought that hanging out with a friend's baby would be a thing that calmed me down when the world's on fire, but here we are.

The child demands chips.

The funny thing about people using AI to write novels and then other people using AI to summarize them is that it removes the entire point of novels, which is the experience of reading them. "This book is about a short guy who finds a ring that makes him invisible." Wow, cool story, bro.

SEATTLE! Come see me at two amazing events tomorrow, Saturday June 14! I'll be at the Emerald City Romance Author & Reader Event @ South Seattle Community College until 4pm, then signing at the Queer Book Fair at @charliesqueerbooks.bsky.social in Fremont from 5pm-6pm! Swing by and say hello!

Thank you to everyone who's protesting, refusing illegal and immoral orders, calling reps, having hard conversations with family... There's no one right way to fight a fascist coup. We need all of it.

You can tell I'm an old man because I almost never fancast my novel characters, but I always fancast their houses. For instance, Ripley's house from the party scene in DARKHEARTS is currently on sale if you want to take a virtual tour: www.redfin.com/WA/Seattle/1...

It's wild out there, but also—it's Pride Month! Maybe you need to decompress with a queer YA rom-com? Perhaps a gay enemies-to-lovers rock star romance or a sapphic supernatural fake dating scheme? jameslsutter.com/novels.html

TFW you discover a concerning new mole, only to realize it's chocolate from the snack you ate hours ago.

An important point in an excellent thread.

A female Western Gull was recorded riding 150km in a garbage truck from San Francisco to a compost facility in Central CA, probably to forage. TWICE. An innovator, an icon, a genius. This is one of my favorite @waterbirdsociety.bsky.social papers I've ever handled as managing editor #ornithology

There should be a vegan or fake meat company called Uncanny Valley Ranch.

One of the most unsettling conversations I ever had was with a guy from NASA about 8 years ago. I expressed my skepticism that space colonisation was worthwhile. He expressed that it was an amazing way of selling billionaires on the idea of funding tech we’d need here on earth in a few decades.

SEATTLE! Just two weeks until the Emerald City Romance Author & Reader Event on Saturday, June 14th at South Seattle College! Come hang out with me and other local romance authors, get books signed, and pick up your next great read! www.eventbrite.com/e/emerald-ci... @ecrwseattle.bsky.social

*getting super excited to eat a single giant peanut the size of an egg, then reading the little "enlarged to show texture" warning and sadly putting the can back on the shelf*

That I don't get to go back to pre-pandemic life. If my high-risk, disabled wife gets Covid, it could destroy her, and there's no magical timeline for that changing (especially now with vaccines being limited). We're basically stuck in 2021 until further notice.

Every so often I shuffle the apps on my phone so that my e-reader app is in the position where my social media apps used to be, and my life immediately gets noticeably better.

Swipe typing is the cursive of our era.

Reminder that the best way to get noticed is to do the work you want to be noticed for.

It doesn't get reiterated enough that "human on a bicycle" is not only the most efficient way that a person can move, it's the most efficient form of motion ***ever observed in land animals***.

I know the idea of calling reps is scary—I get sweaty about it, too, and I'm in a blue state—but in my experience, talking to staffers is no worse than ordering a pizza. Except in this case, you're ordering, say, health care and vaccine access so we don't all die of preventable causes. 5calls.org
