I totally disagree with those who say the Trump 2.0 administraiton has nothing in common with Trump 1.0. Despite all he's done to prevent it, firing anyone who isn't loyal and replacing them with loyalists, barring media from his events, plotting everything on Signal, they both leak like sieves.

Hey kids! you really think they can cut this much from Health and Human Services without gutting the agency? I don't

"give him an inch, and he'll take a mile." - every individual, organization, law firm and institute of higher education that has ever had to consider whether to just bow down and give Trump what he wants - for starters.

Burying the lede: Stefanik was ousted from Harvard's Institute of Politics board in 2021. Kennedy School Dean Elmendorf said she was removed not because of her “political parties, political ideology, or her choice of candidate for president,” but because she repeated Trump’s baseless claims of fraud

NYT Correction: An earlier version . . . referred incorrectly to a judge’s action regarding deportation flights. The judge threatened a contempt inquiry; he did not open such an inquiry.

Courts don't operate in vacuums. Decisions aren't made on the merits. Public opinion affects everything. I know this. I have lived this. I've seen a technically sound, but deeply unpopular project stopped cold, seen lawyers in the right - lose. So don't tell me what can't be done. Get to doing it.

Just listening to Don't Give Up by Peter Gabriel. Listening to the words, I mean.

Wednesday, April 16, 2025 - the day home builder Taylor Morrison reached out to try and reassure potential home buyers that, well, they're working the tariff problem . . .OK I'm not reassured.

THIS is what #journalists need to do now & man, I love it. A bottom up story, not top down. Real Americans are telling Chuck Grassley that we're not acting like Real America these days. Chuck knows this, knows he's part of the party in power that turns a blind eye & refuses to do its job.

Stories focusing on Trump Tariffs are coming from outlets that historically have just stayed out of such things. Like this one that gives u a good idea of what states are going to get hit hardest. And do note, there aren't really winners. www.realtor.com/news/trends/...

Are you a "tell both sides?" #journalist? What if I told you I agree? What if I told you the two sides are now Trump/Musk/ Republicans in Congress/Cabinet members/unelected underlings stealing data, crippling agencies vs US, the citizens of America? National media, use local media to TALK TO US!

If Scripps can have local TV anchors ask questions on-air, members of the #WHPC can regroup, modify, evolve. Instead of asking Trump key questions he will just dodge, set up your OWN rotation of local media. Let them ask YOU questions. Put THEM in the story. 1/2 @briantylercohen.bsky.social

(NYT) "President Trump directed his administration to help states import drugs from Canada . . . " Sorry? Canada? Hey you folks up north. Seems like Trump needs something from you.

Don't you think the Dem. Party & every SuperPac to take a page from THEIR playbook and air PSAs highlighting what's being done to us? Start by making every American hear the Commander in Chief laugh & talk about sending "criminals" (without having been proven guilty) to a gulag in another country.

You get it yet? Trump's sending people he wants gone to a concentration camp in another country, paying that government to take them. He's circumventing the system designed to determine if they're guilty of what Trump says they are. Central Park Five, anybody? Today it's them. Tomorrow it's us.

I'm getting a little tired of my federal government trying to inject itself into everyone's lives, deciding what art we can see, demanding control of colleges and universities, selecting words (and the ideas behind them) for deletion, even changing the direction of scientific inquiry & research. 1/2

We are at a dangerous, dangerous moment in US history, where the President of the United States is threatening to send US citizens to be imprisoned by a foreign ally, and the foreign ally is saying it won't respect an US court orders to release people that it's holding.

I would not have predicted that large universities would show more courage than either Big Law or corporate media. Good for them.

Harvard has set an example for other higher-ed institutions - rejecting an unlawful and ham-handed attempt to stifle academic freedom, while taking steps to make sure students can benefit from an environment of intellectual inquiry, rigorous debate and mutual respect. Let’s hope others follow suit.

Holy shit. Video posted by President Bukele’s team on X shows the moments before his press conference with Trump in which Trump tells him: “We want to do homegrown criminals next. You gotta build about five more places.” (h/t @titonka.bsky.social @michelekelemen.bsky.social)

A federal judge stopped the Trump administration Monday from rescinding deportation protections & work permits for more than a half-million Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans who were granted entrance into the United States under a humanitarian parole program during the Biden presidency.

Harverd to give Zelenskyy honorary degree. (not true, but you know it should be).

Basically our federal government tried a hostile takeover of an institute of higher education and lost. Suddenly, decent Americans who never even tried to gain admission are, in their hearts, #Harvard men and women.

Apparently Trump can only negotiate the release of people taken hostage during the Biden administration. If he, personally had them forcibly removed from the U.S., his hands are tied. I got that right?

Trump, right this very minute, is doing worse things to his country then the crap he did that got him impeached.

The more people Trump arrests for voicing their politial views, the more I think they have a point - the arrestees, not the arrestor.

HOW DUE PROCESS REALLY WORKS: IN a court of law, the government uses old testimony from an unnamed informant to support its contention he's a member of a MS-13 group in a city he's never even visited. 1/2

Let me explain why some unnamed stoolie saying you're a member of a gang in a town you've never visited doesn't constitute due process. On second thought, if you really think it does, may Trump help you, because that's the only way to stay out of jail now.

There should be a nice monetary award for anyone who successfully moves all the laundry from the washer to the dryer without dropping so much as a sock. Surely, my odds of success would improve if there were some kind of financial incentive.

In the year 2025, it's suddenly remarkable when any institution puts its reputation and very purpose for existing above getting money from a government held hostage by criminals, liars & cheats. #harvard
