Well this morning I’m reflecting that a crucial survival skill over coming decades will be the ability to discern what does or does not constitute evidence

A fond farewell to the Crib before I pack it away tomorrow #Candlemas

Maybe @davewalker.bsky.social could draw a cartoon of the Church of England trying to cycle round a bollard in both directions at once!

This made me smile

Went to bed with everything covered in snow. Woke up and the landscape is completely green again. This has helped me come to terms with the fact that I need to take down the Christmas decorations. Apart from the crib of course

In other news the jackdaws were delighted with a batch of rather elderly smoked salmon I put out. Don’t think I ever saw a bird table cleared faster!

No sign of a thaw so far. View from our back garden with Red Pike and the High Stile range in the middle distance

A snowy scene from the back of our house today. The garden criss crossed with bird and animal footprints. Not certain what they all are but between them they’ve polished off the remains of a Christmas pudding and a large quantity of nuts

Where am I, Skylarks, and what’s about to happen?

This is possibly my favourite of our Christmas decorations. If you know, you know 😆

One of my churches loves to sing While Shepherds Watched to Supercalifragilistic. Thank goodness they haven’t discovered that you can sing O Little Town to the tune of The Archers. Merry Christmas Skylarks!

Good morning Skylarks. At this time of year I love to hear the little children sing that savage parable of fallen human nature Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer 🤔

Well today one of my husband’s colleagues came out with the word ‘spoodfeening’ thus incorporating the actual word ‘spoon’ into a spoonerism 😆

Two rival robins are currently staking a claim to our garden and oh my!

Well this morning I’m reflecting that it’s a pity the word ‘adventitious’ is already taken.

Some of you will have read "Winter Holiday" by Arthur Ransome. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

X currently has a tiny clock in the top right hand corner with the words Expiring soon beside it. Should one of us offer it last rites?

The strange case of the missing wynd www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Good morning Skylarks. My new cactus turns out to be an Advent cactus and is blooming exuberantly. ‘The wilderness and the dry land shall be glad, the desert shall rejoice and blossom.’

Is it possible that the Assisted Dying Bill could lead to a wider and richer conversation about death and dying, hope and loss in our society? It’s not being whipped along party lines which is one good sign 🤔

This made me smile

"Louis Appleby, head of the National Suicide Prevention Strategy, has opposed the [assisted dying] bill on the basis that it would undermine the basic principle of suicide prevention: that suicide is never a preferable option to living"

Good morning, liturgical skylarks. You have got the advent candles, haven’t you? Haven’t you?

I keep seeing references to people ‘brining’ a turkey for Thanksgiving. Does this mean ‘immersing it in salt water’ and if so why would you do that? 🤨

This. Unconscious resentment of the ‘power’ we assume others wield and wish we had also plays a part here

My #Bluesky development requests. A ‘draft’ function. An app that works at a sensible scale on an iPad. What are yours? Let’s make a #christmaswishlist

Good morning to all those who think that Bluesky will remain a kind and cuddly place where no one will disagree with you. It won’t but it will still be better than you know what because no ads and no criminally motivated algorithm #smallmercies

*waves to @selvaratnam.bsky.social* Yours was the first tweet I ever saw when I joined Twitter in 2012 🤗

This wins the internet today

It’s true, Bluesky is currently very similar to how Twitter was ten years ago. But keep clicking on ‘Following’ not ‘Discover’ or that will quickly change
