TONIGHT: @nickkristof.bsky.social talks to @lawrenceodonnell.msnbc.com on The #LastWord at 10pm ET.

There is no bottom.

I just left the Senate floor after speaking out against the Big Ugly Bill. It breaks my heart that this is what we’ve come to as a Senate — and as a country.

Over the past decade, the world’s richest 1% have increased their wealth by at least $33.9 trillion, according to a new analysis from the global anti-poverty group Oxfam International.

This stuff is straight out of Orban/every strongman’s playbook

This conversation between Heather, Cox Richardson, and Zach Everson truly explains crypto, and MANY of the ways the Trump family is enriching themselves right now. @hcrichardson.bsky.social www.youtube.com/live/uOMr8Sp...

Should have been front-page news every day since it happened.

Europe discovers right of publicity

Great conversation covering the many ways Trump & family are profiting from the Presidency and using opaque financial instruments to do so. @hcrichardson.bsky.social @zacheverson.com

Yet another ICE impersonator caught. How many are they not catching? As @MarshaBlackburn @SenJohnson & Sexton try to protect masked unidentified vigilantes with legislation— we should be banning this dangerous insanity instead.

Newsom sues Fox for $787M. Trump axes trade talks with Canada. Bannon attacks Fox as a foreign agent. Inflation rises. SCOTUS chips away at rights. ICE deaths mount. Tesla Robotaxis fail. Iran still armed. This is Today in Politics.

REP. @maxwellfrost.bsky.social: “THIS IS AN EVIL BILL. It’s going to rip away health care from 15 million Americans, and food assistance from millions — to give tax breaks to the richest, and mega corporations.” #TrumpsTrillionsTransfer

Breaking: The Senate just blocked a Democratic resolution that would have forced Trump to go to Congress for approval of further military action against Iran.

NEW: In a sweeping rebuke of President Donald Trump’s campaign of retribution against law firms that challenged his political agenda, a federal judge Friday struck down in its entirety an executive order issued by Trump that targeted a powerful law firm. www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...

The authorities are investigating the death of a Canadian citizen who died Monday in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the agency said in a statement. The man, Johnny Noviello, 49, is the 10th person to die in ICE custody this year.

NEW VIDEO: One of the most egregious abuses of power and attacks on the federal judiciary is taking place in Maryland and it is not getting the urgent attention it deserves. In a normal time this would be a national scandal. Paige and I discuss. www.youtube.com/watch?v=BqrO...

"Given that Trump administration officials are giving license to mass criminality among federal law enforcement officers, there may be only one remaining avenue for bringing such criminal cops to justice: State prosecutions." Good @davidrlurie.bsky.social thoughts over at @atrupar.com's place:

States can step into the breach www.publicnotice.co/p/state-pros...

The Trump Administration won't hold ICE officers to account for their rampant illegality; state prosecutors should do so, as I discuss here.

“The fear of a future crisis is distracting attention from the problems that the government’s dependence on debt is already causing,” writes the Times editorial board. “We, the people, are spending a staggering amount of money each year to borrow money.” www.nytimes.com/2025/06/27/o...

🇫🇷🇪🇺 Macron announces "unprecedented sanctions package" "It provides, among other things, for a ban on imports of refined Russian oil to third countries, which will be a powerful signal. I also hope that the agreement will include the principle of reducing the price ceiling for Russian oil," he said

White House Deputy Press Secretary now claims that this representation—made by a Justice Department attorney in federal court just a few hours ago—is “fake news.”

Striking: Trump's budget bill is now polling in 20s and 30s. "It’s astonishing how underwater it is," says @sarahposner.bsky.social. Rs haven't even "tried to hide" that it takes from poor to give to "megarich." On the pod, Sarah is great on Trump's big poll slide: newrepublic.com/article/1973...

I retired early while Biden was president, so I didn't have the same moral quandary about the POTUS. But I was noticing more and more among some of the students that they were basically just repeating cable news and internet conspiracy talking points, and that was one reason I decided to go.

Federal and local law enforcement wearing masks is just plain unamerican. It’s a cowards move, and shows the fact that the kinds of deportations happening and the methods are, shameful and unpopular. adamkinzinger.substack.com/p/why-are-fe...

Listen to "The Headlines," which brings you the biggest stories of the day from the New York Times reporters who are covering them, all in about 10 minutes.

They’re planning on building a detention center for migrants in the middle of the fetid swamps of Florida. If you think this is something new, the first internment camp they sent me and my family to in 1942 was a barbed wire prison called Rohwer. It was located in the swamps of Arkansas.

This is a sign of serious mental illness. No sane person would post this. It’s not Alzheimer’s. It’s manic, impulsive, egotistical, cruel, and shows a lack of empathy and insight to a degree that it would be labeled “disordered”

New, @propublica.org: “You won’t have neutral prosecutors weighing the facts and making decisions about who to investigate,” said Adam W. Cohen, who led the DOJ office that coordinates interagency organized crime probes, about Stephen Miller's plan. “The White House will be able to decide.”

The Supreme Court has cleared the way for the Trump administration to deport immigrants to countries they aren’t from — including Libya and South Sudan — without giving them time to contest the deportation. By @eleanorbpaynter.net‬ @uoregon.bsky.social‬:

Oh my god. Mitch McConnell just said this about the Republican plan to kick 16 million people off their health coverage: “I know a lot of us are hearing from people back home about Medicaid. But they’ll get over it.”
