Very moving accounts of a forgotten war on the Sudanese people. Please take your time with this !

My colleagues have a really sobering & disturbing dispatch on Gaza. "Israeli security officials have confirmed to The Economist that the plan is to empty permanently the Rafah area, in Gaza’s south, which represents around 20% of the entire territory" www.economist.com/middle-east-...

#Sudan 's civil war is a war on civilians. To mark the 2nd year of the conflict, we produced an interactive that features the voices of five Sudanese civilians whose lives have been upended by the war. Here are there unheard stories. Don't look away. interactive.aljazeera.com/aje/2025/sud...

"hailed as a breakthrough for gender equality in space tourism" 🤨

You know why European countries are so quiet about the El Salvador situation? Because they started the normalisation of extraterritorial detention of migrants and asylum seekers, often without any due process. The UK’s Rwanda plan. Italy’s attempted plan with Albania. And some still want to do it.

On the eve of the two year mark since the beginning of the war in Sudan, 27 UN special procedures come together to draw urgent attention to the hunger, humanitarian, and displacement crisis impacting Sudanese civilians. Details here: www.ohchr.org/en/press-rel...

“Bluesky is too much of an echo chamber” have you spent five minutes in a political discussion here

This is as close as the UN can get calling it a genocide without using the term itself: “ … Israel appears to be inflicting on Palestinians in Gaza conditions of life increasingly incompatible with their continued existence as a group in Gaza.” www.ohchr.org/en/press-bri...

Before any school shooter is ever stopped with this tool, it will have been used en masse on protesters.

On this week's episode of the podcast, Erik Skare joins POMEPS Director Marc Lynch to discuss his new book, Road to October 7: A Brief History of Palestinian Islamism. Listen here: pomeps.org/road-to-octo...

Even Hasbara is meeting its limits in view of the blatant war crimes conducted in Gaza

We're tracking the number of international students whose visas have been revoked by the State Department. We've confirmed over 300 so far and there are likely many more. Get in touch if you've got information you'd like to share with us www.insidehighered.com/news/global/...

#Sudan v #UAE #GenocideConvention provisional measures hearing is on today. Of course, this is just a waste of everyone's time, as UAE has a reservation to Art IX of the #GenCon, so the #ICJ will throw this case out. #intLaw

Iseael now controls more than half of the Gaza Strip’s territory and is slicing it into several pieces. @smednick.bsky.social @apnews.com apnews.com/article/gaza...

My book on "Smugglers and States" has won the Theodore J. Lowi First Book Award by @apsa.bsky.social and @ipsa.org. I'm surprised and honored and thrilled to be in the company of some really great books that won in recent years. www.ipsa.org/na/news/max-...

What are Israel's new goals in Gaza? To "empty permanently" the area around Rafah, around 20% of Gaza's territory; to herd Gaza's 2m people to the coast and create "kill zones" elsewhere; and to control aid distribution, rather than coordinating it with humanitarian groups.
