My dad who is old and whose eyes are failing, but whose mind is not, recommended this to me. He was right. A very good book. (So far, no spoilers please!)

Wow. Just devoured this in all its stunning ferocity of wit. Glorious tone, the kind of book where you can greedily appreciate the prose even as you are swept along in the increasing wild plot. Bravo @tobyschmitz.bsky.social !!!#TheEmpressMurders

At first I thought "operation spiderweb", where Ukraine used drones to destroy Russian bombers, was just impressive. 📦 💣 Now it is also making me nervous. Short thread: 1/4

Waymo stops for a pup.

Ubiquitous cheap drones in warzones are going to change the dynamics dramatically. 1/ foot soldiers Infantry will need to assume they can always see where you are hiding. The options will be armour, hang back or move very very fast fast. 1/3

Okay everyone, it's tennis season again! 7pm tonight, on channel 9's GEM channel, Aussie Daria Kasatkina (seed 16) takes on Russian teenager Mirra Andreeva (seed 6). Then at 920pm, Novak D (seed doesn't matter, age does!) vs unseeded Cameron Norrie. All just a warm up for Wimbledon in late June!

Read the Bugalugs Bum Thief to my 3 year old last night and got thinking about Tim Winton's kids. He lives in WA. I bet at least one of them works fifo and drives a Ford Ranger as a rebellion against the old man. ;)

This is a map house. We love maps. But we respect their limitations. Which is why we have five (5) globes. Of various vintages.

Imagine Australia is going to speed-build a new city of 2 million people. Where do we put it? (Rules of the hypothetical: has to be a small town now, can't be a city of 1 million!)

If you're on Melbourne, peep the radar today. Weather NEVER comes from that direction!! Suspect the bureau has much less data on what happens under these circumstances and as a result their rain forecast is probably 🦧 www.bom.gov.au/products/IDR...
