Minnesota was just ranked the 5th best state for child wellbeing — here’s why: ✅ Free school meals ✅ Nation-leading Child Tax Credit ✅ Paid family and medical leave

Tapper can go on a podcast and trash Democrats — “no wonder you fuckers are losing elections” — and nobody bats an eye. It’s only bias when you’re telling the truth about republicans.

From Portland Center Stage's contemporary take on Oscar Wilde to free Shakespeare in the parks, Oregon stages offer escapist comfort.

"why would I want a union I make good money already" Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, Julie Robert and Angelina Jolie are in unions. As are LeBron James, Juan soto, and Patrick Mahomes. I think you vastly underestimate what a union is or can do. A worker is a worker.

He's still awful and evil. It's a stopped clock situation.

It's always been "two weeks." 15 years ago when he was claiming that Obama's birth certificate was fake ("You wouldn't believe what we've found!"), he was asked to provide evidence, and he said he'd do so in "two weeks." "Two weeks" = "I'm lying"

Harvard University offering free classes on government and the Constitution to everyone is the coolest thing I’ve heard today.

CEO pay is up 1,085% since 1978, while typical worker pay is up just 24%.  Why do we always hear "we can't afford to pay our workers more" but never "we can't afford to pay our CEO more"?

After-tax income under the Trump/GOP budget: -People making less than $17/k year: LOSE $1000 -People making between $17k and $51k/yr: LOSE $700 -People making over $4.3M/year: GAIN $389,000 This is what class warfare looks like.

You can tell which one went to Juilliard

The lack of basic decency by this government is appalling.

While there might be a thoughtful, likely bipartisan alternative, "we seem headed toward a conversation that rules out some of the most promising policy responses, while reinforcing retrograde—and in some cases downright creepy—attitudes about gender."

Pope Francis, 88, died Monday following a stroke. Many Oregonians say they will miss him and remember him as a champion for the poor, for action on climate change and for a more inclusive world.

FMK: JD Vance edition.

*Of course* advance information on US combat operations is classified. Pretending otherwise is an insult to our troops, who all know this. The Secretary is unfit to lead.

Turns out you can shape the agenda with dramatic action and maybe even shift public opinion. Crazy.

I'd listen to that!

Even if you (wrongly) believe that some immigrants lack due process rights, what’s to stop the government from claiming that *you* are an undocumented immigrant; removing you to El Salvador; citing an “administrative error”; and refusing to do anything to bring you back? The answer is due process.

You cannot legally send Americans to an El Salvadorian prison no matter what they have done. Plain and simple.

Love this. Everyone should cancel their Prime account.

"What the U.S. is doing now is not reform. It is rejecting the very system it created." - Singapore's Prime Minister Lawrence Wong (April 8, 2025)

This weekend feels so much like the first week of March 2020. It’s a feeling of weightlessness, as the bottom is dropping out under civilization but we don’t yet know what we’re falling into.

wapo.st/3E46fQt LIES. They were LIES.

who amongst us

going to start calling myself a centrist and then listing all my leftist views as proof, just going to start moving the overton window by force

"The administration halted millions of dollars worth of emergency food deliveries to food banks across the country, including Oregon, with no assurance on when it might resume the deliveries, according to Oregon Food Bank officials."

If you happen to live in Southern Oregon, or plan to go to the Shakespeare Festival, I'll be on a panel for Ashland.news next month (April 10) to talk about the state of local news. They'll be screening the documentary "Stripped for Parts." Should be a good talk! ashland.news/OurEvents/

They're not even trying to hide it anymore. They're coming for Social Security.

"Tesla has launched a single new vehicle in 5 years, the Cybertruck, and it is a flop. At what point do you start to blame management?" electrek.co/2025/03/20/t...

I've been quiet lately for... a lot of reasons. But honestly: Fuck all this shit. Gloves off. Cowards to the back.

Time to boycott Senate donations and sign petitions. Chuck Schumer has gotta go.

Dear Democrats: If the Republicans want a vote from you, make them beg you for it. Beg. Until then, do nothing. Have a price and make it very high. Explain your offer well before the vote to the public. Not this. You gave it for nada.

Americans who are pro-democracy – which is most of us – want Democrats to fight hard against Republican fascism. They don't want bewilderment and helplessness. They don't want mumbo-jumbo about how voting with the fascists now will work out in the long run. Fight hard or get the hell out of the way.

If your senator is on this list.... call now!!!!

If we can "avoid a government shutdown" by voting for this CR, then why is the entire Department of Education closed today? Why is USAID closed? Why are hundreds of billions in grant contracts frozen? We are already in the shutdown. And your votes DON'T stop it. In fact, they allow it to expand.

the absolute most charitable thing you can say about a lot of democratic lawmakers is that they want to hold onto a political order that no longer exists
