Graeme Abel resigned today after backlash amid abuse allegations | @sfchronicle.com www.sfchronicle.com/sports/artic...

You just don’t need to fly a player across an ocean and hammer them for three games in seven days, especially not when you know exactly what that player gives you and you’re playing a trio of friendlies under a interim coach. It’s as pointless as the HB in my pencil case.

Feeling fine and not at all like refusing to watch sports again after Maryland lost on a buzzer-beater from beyond the logo, definitely doing alright!!!

BREAKING: Graeme Abel has resigned his position as #BayFC director of domestic scouting for college and professional players. The decision comes less than a week after he was hired. More details here. www.espn.com/soccer/story...

Pretty big injury news out of Portland: Morgan Weaver, defender Nicole Payne, and defender Marie Müller have been placed on the Season-Ending Injury (SEI) list. Each player is recovering from a knee injury

CONCACAF says it has started an investigation into Chido Awaziem’s allegations of derogatory remarks by LAFC’s Sergi Palencia in last night’s CCC game. www.theguardian.com/football/202...

Oh, it's Pete Weber day?

Oh cool it’s almost as if “cutting waste” wasn’t the point at all and the point is to gut then privatize the entire government

Diana Taurasi played as hard as she did, as well as she did, as long as she did because of how much she loved the game, and she walks away satisfied. How she’ll be remembered is for others to decide. www.usatoday.com/story/sports...

I legitimately hope the Diana Taurasi Wintrust Door ends up in a museum one day

News: Brian Gutiérrez is suspended for the Chicago Fire’s home opener vs DC United on March 1 and was fined for the incident in the 56th min of their match vs Columbus that resulted in a VAR check & yellow card for Gutiérrez #cf97 #VamosFire

I really don't get the Krueger #USWNT news from a process perspective. Best season of her career in 2024, & she isn't showing a hint of decline in any category that would cause worry. IMO you keep a player like that in the pool, for two key reasons that benefit the team long-term.

We should lose the WC and Olympics over this

'It stinks' - Krueger says her USWNT career is likely over

It's now finally officially official from the Spirit side: Washington has signed Mexico CB Rebeca Bernal. 3-year contract. Spirit have 9 internationals for 8 international spots, so a move of some kind will have to take place to activate Ouleye Sarr from SEI. #NWSL

Some really consequential #USWNT news included here

Let's talk D.C. United tactics! What new wrinkles did Troy Lesesne trot out against TFC on Saturday and did any of it work? @jasondcsoccer.bsky.social breaks it all down. Plus, I give brief thoughts on every player DCU used in their 2-2 draw. Listen+Subscribe www.buzzsprout.com/8793/episode...

I don't blame the leagues for this or even feel any strong way about it (outside of the time B&RU was accused of hacking a server), but it's objectively very funny that we do NDAs for kit launches and 100% of the time they leak via the retail side

Week 1 has rarely been more "actually still preseason" than this Week 1.

🚨 Official statement 🚨 I remain committed to the "Mystics never gonna lose again" bit. They could trade every player for picks, and the bit would be unchanged. I eagerly anticipate May 16's season opener, which will be the first of a WNBA-record winning streak leading to a championship sweep.

hello I rated the players again prosoccerwire.usatoday.com/story/sports...

Jaedyn Shaw piled up 8 key passes, including 3 "big chances," won 5 tackles, won the majority of her ground duels, and won two free kicks. It wasn't perfect (she lost possession 22 times, joint-highest total of all players), but she also was for me the unquestioned best player on the field. #USWNT

Sorry to Russian nesting doll this, but: Shaw's pass on the chance Sentnor couldn't finish was doing exactly this. She's conserved a bit of energy and still had something in the tank to get her angle right to create (another) big chance.

Congrats to the KC Current, the team that has Claire Hutton (who split the defense on that goal) and Michelle Cooper (who finished it in textbook fashion). #USWNT

To the point: Shaw has seemed tired for a bit here, & has throughout her pro career tended to get subbed in NWSL games between 60-75 minutes in. So, here's the #USWNT sending on some eager runners (Sentnor and Cooper) and leaving Shaw out there to learn how to stay effective when fatigued.

Emma Hayes has repeatedly emphasized how 2025 is about learning about the pool, so IMO Australia changing tactics & actually starting to pose questions via player-marking & pressing is great for the #USWNT. I suspect there are few subs coming, and rightly so. Let them solve a new puzzle.

#USWNT key pass total in the 1st half, minus Jaedyn Shaw: 3 Jaedyn Shaw key pass total: 4 (including 2 "big chances", the only 2 such chances in the game for either team)

some credit to the Matildas, quite concerning opening 20-30 minutes has been revitalized by a compact 4-1-4-1 and a few sloppy USWNT passes getting picked up and giving the Aussies some press.

Put in the live blog that players like Shaw, who are not yet #USWNT starters but are more experienced than the several teens starting today, have a big moment in terms of taking on more in-game responsibility. To that point, Shaw is absolutely cooking so far.
