Incredible creamy miso mushroom pasta. Recipe is in ‘Plant Protein’ by Gigi Grassia. #vegan

If you're feeling overwhelmed, I really hope this reaches you today.

Another installment in my #CompostArt series.

Thanks, @guygavrielkay.bsky.social, for the Patrick Modiano recommendation. Just finished Dora Bruder (in French). What a magical little book. He creates layers of complexity and possibility while knowing almost nothing for certain. Like taking photographs of only our peripheral vision.

My attempt at a Tolkien-style map of my homelands: Essex County, Ontario, Canada.

Frozen, snowy creek = instant Winter trail in the backyard.

When people see the maple leaf, they see possibility. They see freedom. They see a helping hand. They see Canada, and the best of our values. Happy 60th to our flag. 🇨🇦

Nandor:

😬 Here I thought the question was linguistic or metaphysical...like when does fire (literally a chemical reaction that disappears matter) begin to be seen as an object with semantic and ontological permanence... silly me.

You can, and should, change your INTERPRETATION of a thing, as you reflect and learn, as long as your VALUES are consistent.

What people don’t realize is that you don’t HAVE to watch that thing, you can just read.

Happy Superb Owl Party day to all who celebrate.

Just finally watching #Arcane. What gorgeous animation and complex characters.

I bet doom scroll meant something way cooler in the middle ages.

Sometimes great art teaches you how to read it, see it, hear it. And in so doing changes what you CAN read, see, hear. And that, in turn, changes you, and the world as you inhabit it.

Groundhog sees the shadow of Mordor cast by the fires of Mount Doom, predicts an Age of Darkness and Evil.

🧪 If I were Canadian PM I would immediately: 1. Create a new $15B science fund 2. Offer any credentialed US scientist funding for lab startup and replacement of NIH grants if they move to Canada 3. Immediate permanent residency 4. Citizenship after 2 years Overnight a science superpower

Wow.

Agreed. I have encountered no other form that shapes thought like haiku. Makes me mindful, attentive, philosophical.

The Welsh told the Saxons this hill was called "pen" (meaning "hill"). The Saxons added their word for hill, "tor," and called it Torpen (hill hill). Later the Norse added their world for hill. So it became Torpen Haugr (Hill Hill Hill). Now the English call it Torpenhow Hill (Hill Hill Hill Hill)

Radical perspective shift: What if we (and all animals) are simply evolutionary tools evolved by plants and minerals to give them the powers of movement? Like we are just vehicles for moving rocks and pollinating plants and spreading viruses?

Definitely feeling "ringlorn."

Going to start posting pictures of our kitchen compost bowl. Is this a thing? #CompostArt

Conservatism looks to the past for inspiration because it is not creative or brave enough to create something new and better.

A balanced argument doesn’t weigh two sides equally. It weighs the strongest evidence more heavily. Critical thinking isn't about representing every view. It's about recognizing your biases, and giving serious consideration to facts that contradict your hopes and beliefs.

We all know the importance of staying physically healthy but we need to practice keeping our minds in shape. Read books. Educate yourself. Don't ask chatbots to write texts to your loved ones. I promise you, if you don't use your brain, you will lose it.

This analogy for our work as teachers—finding a path, not forging a road—immediately sits with me as one of the most useful + important I've come across. Read this! 👀

[willem dafoe unprompted] now, this cookie monster. [toothy smile] what a creature, what a lust. it consumes him. [crosses legs] he’s really a tragic figure.

Celery and peanut butter is an underrated snack.

starting to notice people saying "comfortability" instead of "comfort" and "relevancy" instead of "relevance" and i wish i didnt care but unfortunately it enrages me

President Jimmy Carter's greeting to the cosmos, launched in 1977, is still heading boldly into interstellar space aboard NASA's Voyager spacecraft, humanity's first emissary to the stars.

A thread of wonders!
