The most optimistic version of the future is one in which Trump’s authoritarianism & cruelty fully activate the antibodies of democracy across the USA, awaking the sleeping giant, leading to electoral majorities large enough to enact structural reforms. We’ll need to be brave, lucky, & work harder.

I fixed so many of my computers small curses/gremlins last month. Boots nice and fast, things so much better. Alas, new curse/gremlin is that it doesn't power off. Goes from 90->60w and most fans stop but GPU stays on.

there's been a bunch of 28TB HAMR Seagate Exos X "refurb" drives for sale for ~$380. seems flat-out awesome. but man, brand new HAMR tech, laser/lasers heating platters? refurb usually aok for me, but feeling a bit nervous about me & my data braving this great leap forward on 2nd tier equipment.

the web loses itself & falls when it obscures the client-server connection. these are mere sundry details to be intermediated away by frameworks. we don't all have to see & know every aspect, but they should be protocols available to grow & extend upon!

taxes disaster averted. turns out it's just chrome that doesn't know how to print a 1040 form on linux. every other app i've printed from can do this fine. (but i have gone around and around in cups & then hplip, suspecting the drivers/"driverless" was to blame.)

tax season & both grateful for having so much income, but also really painfully aware that i've somewhat ignored my earning potential for so much of my life. it feels like there's such a roll of the dice for big tech jobs, that there's 50% odds any given role would suck terribly for me.

Maybe gonna panic buy an Acer Nitro XV275K P3 as a new outdoor monitor. Very very bright 4k mini-led, ~$350 refurb. Not a big expense, but man, I've really been buying a lot of things that I just don't know what the future holds for.

Is it anything other than a clear cut fact that Bukele is an illegal president, who ran in violation of constitutional term limits? Disgraceful that the Supreme Court & people of El Salvador seemingly supported ignoring their constitution en mass. What a shithole future.
