Wife’s away with her mum and the kids. For the first (and likely last) time in years I’ve got 3 empty days. Should I… 1. Get LOADS of work done? 2. Packed schedule of seeing friends, watching movies, reading books & going to exhibitions? 3. Lie on the sofa scrolling through twitter for 72 hours?

🧵NOT BY ME, this is a post from someone who wants to remain anonymous but works extensively with trans people pre-transition. They were asked by someone “why do you think that’s so much [coverage of trans people] in the news at the moment?” This was their response:

Got a very unusual favour to ask... Long story, but I’m writing a short paragraph (long sentence really) that requires expert knowledge of vocabulary from the world of dancing. (like “arabesque”, “pas de bourrée piqué” “glissade en arrière” and so on) Is that you? If so, please get in touch!

You know how in the mobile game Freeways, when you add MORE roads, it makes all the traffic have to merge more and causes MORE traffic than before, and your score goes DOWN? I’m no expert, but isn’t that EXACTLY what the Silvertown Tunnel is going to do?

Tune into BBC Radio London now to hear me (live, in a few mins!) nattering about the Silvertown Tunnel, and river crossings in east London in general.

Londoners! Tune into BBC London News on BBC One tonight at 6:30pm to watch me bang on about boroughs for Greater London’s 60th birthday.

In case there’s anyone out there with exactly the same niche interests as me, I think I’ve located the earliest use of a Greater London boroughs map in a film, and it’s none other than Help! (Filmed just before Greater London became a thing.)

Happy 60th birthday to all 32 London boroughs!

Just found out GPS satellites are NOT geostationary, which means I'm going to have to cut this brilliant joke I just wrote.

How can we possibly have already used half the available numbers in the UK’s new numberplate system set up only a few years ago?

2024 is now as long ago as 2023 was in 2024.

Dreamt a couple of TV formats if you’re interested… 1. Six celebrities sit in a room googling each other. 2. Hugh Laurie presents Deal or No Deal but doesn’t understand the rules.

I think the Other Place is down.

Your mum’s favourite song is Tubthumping by Chumbawamba.

The song ‘Jesus to a Child’ by George Michael goes on a bit, doesn’t it?

Our first MAP MEN BOOK, coming this October is *already* available to pre-order. lnk.to/MapMen Imagine the bliss of getting your Christmas shopping out of the way 9 months early. 🗺️ 📕

Just realised…. You say “Westminster Bridge” and “Tower Bridge” and “Hammersmith Bridge”, etc etc But you say “*THE* Blackwall Tunnel” and “*THE* Rotherhithe Tunnel” and “*THE* Silvertown Tunnel”. Explain that, science!

Yes, there will be a US/Canada version too. Link to pre-order that coming very soon.
