Now that Trump has ousted Brown, and the heads of the Navy and Coast Guard, the remaining top military leaders are all white and male, particularly striking given that minorities make up nearly 40 percent of the military and women constitute fully a fifth. www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/king-donal...

I wouldn’t think “moved to root out diversity initiatives” is a useful phrase for journalism at all, but using it as a euphemism for a purge of high ranking black officers is downright Orwellian.

This is the most wretched campaign of deliberate, explicit persecution the United States has perpetrated against a minority group in decades. Many of the most important people in politics and journalism are busying themselves trying to figure out how little to say or do about it.

Democrats are fundamentally misunderstanding the moment: We're not asking them to be *legislators* right now. We need them to be *politicians.* There's nothing to be done about the legislative situation. They're right about that. But there's PLENTY to be done as politicians.

At this stage, a safe landing on an airplane feels like an act of resistance

New: Trump and those around him aren't acting like they're testing the boundaries of criminal law. They seem to be crossing them whimsically. What do you suppose people like that will do if and when they start to think their impunity might be at risk?

With the @yankees.com amending their facial hair policy, some Baseball Reference player pages might look a little different soon... 👀

Statement from Blue Wahoos Principal Owner Quint Studer on the maintenance of Blue Wahoos mullet policy:

seems pretty definitive when even a National Front type just calls out the salute for what it is

UL actually didn’t invent the toothpick until 1979.

Two Hall of Famers — and one tribute to the less adept among us — on one rookie card, a familiar one from my first packs of 1978 Topps (a/k/a the best set, don’t @ me)

We were asking for fascism to be stopped and all we got was the Yankees dropping their No Facial Hair Policy.

I feel so sick. Enough with the lies, enough with the games. They know exactly what they're doing. This is a neo-Nazi movement. Proudly so. The only reason they've kept it coded up until now was to take advantage of those who didn't want to believe it. No more looking away. Face up to what it is.

Eric Adams can’t be trusted. That’s why I’ve asked Eric Adams for his recommendations of who should help keep him in check.

Met a few cool raptors — a Harris’s hawk, a barn owl, and a red-tailed hawk — through Hawkwatch International today (my parents have been very into this stuff for 30 years)

I was today years old when I learned that Debbie Harry covered Devo on SNL in 1981 (better footage in the special) www.dailymotion.com/video/xkwqcz

“put it on his fucking gravestone”

@jayjaffe.bsky.social Oh fan of chaos, can I introduce you to Division III MAC Freedom men's basketball 4-way tie for 2nd place with 1 game remaining. 3 of 4 teams make the playoffs And to get to this point, a last place team beat one of the contenders. And another contender beat 1st place on road

my father (retired physician) took my two stitches out today, and ugh, that fingertip still looks like a war zone.

This morning, I called both Cruz and Cornyn using a modified version of Andrea’s script! #DidThisToday

“I am a king and my will is law” isn’t a clever distraction from what he’s doing, it’s the central underlying justification for everything he’s doing.

Move over, Mr. Sugarpenis

Beans in chili are woke. What a great bit

Just realized today is the 30th anniversary of the day I moved to New York City, aka the day I paid the Triboro Bridge toll twice because I missed a turn while driving a U-Haul. "Welcome to New York, rube."

Accidentally fired the guys running the nuclear program. Accidentally fired experienced air traffic controllers. Accidentlly fired the people trying to contain the bird flu.... Accidentally fired...

A sack of doorknobs would be more useful than this clown.

Not a bluebird day at Snowbird, but the kiddo skied through a blizzard, survived some drama regarding gloves (I have bought 2 pair today, plus showed up with 2 left gloves myself) and cold toes, and kicked the mountain’s butt via an intermediate run

Prospect Week is still going strong over at FanGraphs! Today on the site, @dszymborski.fangraphs.com ran the projections to determine the 2025 ZiPS Top 100 prospects:

Great story from Paul Lukas. "The music iconoclast Steve Albini had a gift for me in 1997, but I didn’t receive until last week — nearly a year after he died." www.inconspicuous.info/p/a-friend-s...

FINISH HIM!

Can someone please ask Eric Adams what "Mein Kampf" was about, because I'd love to hear it.

You’ll be shocked to know that learning about another crash WHILE FLYING did not do wonders for my mood. But we landed safely

"The richest man alive, an actual Nazi and a fucking sicko, who was not elected, is firing tens of thousands of people to further enrich himself and the president he has usurped all to make Americans' lives worse" has to be among the biggest layups of all time for messaging. And yet.

The Trump administration is going to criminally target political opponents and it's gonna be an A23 story

Happy Top 100 Prospects Day to all who celebrate!

Fitting in that he’s lost executive function

“Because the career incentives of elite opinion journalism are such that there will always be upwards mobility for someone like me who criticizes Democrats more than Trump”
