You could say this about many topics. Democrats are simply held to a different standard than Republicans. When the GOP is in power, we're just happy that they don't entirely cover the walls in proverbial (or literal) shit. When Democrats are in power, we blame them if we stub our own toe.

I previously worked at a company that had multiple subsidiaries. When they brought in a new CEO, one of the first things he noticed is that the subsidiaries were poaching each others' customers. His first main directive in response was to order everyone to aim their cannons outwards.
