Any president who said this who was not named Donald Trump would be immediately impeached for this. It would be front page/newscast leading stuff for weeks, until he was removed from office. bsky.app/profile/atru...

Honored that @sandiegouniontribune.com asked me to write about end of a very long & very successful era not only at @delmarracing.bsky.social but all of horse racing. The legendary Trevor Denman is retiring after more than four decades of calling races. www.sandiegouniontribune.com/2025/03/06/t...

As a former athlete & current researcher of online rumors & disinfo, today's atrocious example of the "right wing bullshit machine" in action — anchored on a truly idiotic claim from a football coach turned GOP senator about trans girls making girls sports "extinct" — enrages along both dimensions.

Great night at Snapdragon for @sandiegofc2025.bsky.social opener despite no goals. But bad look for club & city that many fans felt compelled to do homophobic chant 3 times during 2nd half, prompting PA & scoreboard messages. Be interesting to see what SDFC & @majorleaguesoccer.bsky.social do next.

This stuff matters and major respect to Jesse Marsch. I have spent so much time telling Canadians that I understand exactly how they feel with the insulting 51st State garbage and I'm insulted by that shit too.

They are not “Trump’s lawyers.” They are US Attorneys and their oath is to the Constitution. Including freedom of the press.

Got to wrote about some San Diego history tonight in Carson, of all places. Big debut for @sandiegofc2025.bsky.social … www.sandiegouniontribune.com/2025/02/23/b...

This is re: Trump's EO to ban trans persons from the military. Reyes is a federal judge. If I got this etherized in court I'd walk into the fucking sea. bsky.app/profile/mike...

Super Bowl debut punt for San Diegan Matt Araiza is 57 yards, net 44.

That didn’t take long. Let the internet explode.

Was there as well. Very good discussion with Chris and @harrylitman.bsky.social. Can’t wait to crack open the book (after I finish checking Bluesky of course).

I just posted this on Facebook because while super online people see what's going on, normies don't. I just re-read it and it sounds unhinged. But it's what's happening. And even I can't believe it, even if we're seeing it.

Am I having a stroke or did Trump just talk about the US “owning” Gaza? And maybe sending US troops?

I’d read it anyway but always appreciate Douglas asking me to be part of such an august panel.

All of this water is being wasted, none of it will be available to the farmers he’s trying to suck up to when they need it, and none of it would have done a thing to stop wildfires. Utter, disastrous madness

Oh look. A President, a Governor, a Mayor - all at the crash site at the Chesapeake Bay with first responders. Not swimming. Showing empathy and leadership.

I’m old enough to remember being not told to politicize tragedies when trying to stop children from being massacred in their home room class but whatever

This tweet sent out 14 hours BEFORE the crash needs to be immortalized in stone. Or on a plaque in every ATC tower. Or on a disclaimer before every Mayday: Air Disaster episode. Or on an Amber Alert type system to every American. Or on a stamp. Or maybe currency. Something.

The reason there hasn't been a crash like this in this country for 15 years is that we used to investigate thoroughly and try to learn what was ACTUALLY to blame, so we could avoid another one. Now, the play is to just fake the results and blame the bogeyman of the moment. They will kill us all.

Blaming persecuted minorities and political opponents is the demagogue’s crutch in times of adversity, but it’s especially unpersuasive here with the United States coming off a fairly sterling sixteen year streak of aviation safety.

After watching a nation collectively erase their memories of how much people disliked the Patriots (vis a vis the Chiefs)—we needed this reminder. Thank you Bill.

In a functioning democracy, a president who -tries to seize Congress's constitutional spending powers -attempts to rewrite the Constitution unilaterally -pardons violent insurrectionists who attacked the government -fires the Inspectors General and DOJ prosecutors would face immediate impeachment

Ravens ran a perfect 2-point play and Mark Andrews pulled a Jackie Smith.

Happy to wear the last line of this if Rams can pull off minor miracle.

Rams were down 16-15 w/ball in good field position after safety at end of third quarter. After that: Rams: Williams fumble on 2nd play Eagles: FG Rams: Stafford fumble after one 1st down Eagles: FG Rams: 3-and-out … Punt Eagles: Barkley 78-yard TD run WAS at PHL next Sunday for spot in Super Bowl

Only second quarter but feels like allowing that third-and-14 conversion could really haunt Rams. They could have had good field position with chance for points at end of first half and start of second. Now they’re under pressure just to keep Eagles from adding to lead.

I spent this spectacular San Diego afternoon with Jim and I won’t share details about this hole or too many others except to say he should have shared a photo of the hole he birdied! Looking forward to many more rounds (and more birdies, or at least fewer bogeys).

Really a fan of what Dan Campbell has done with Detroit but can’t understand his thinking on playing Jared Goff and some other key Lions tonight when result means absolutely nothing. Just not worth the risk, especially with Goff. They have no chance to win Super Bowl without their QB.

Non-paywalled post. Rest in peace Rickey Henderson. The greatest leadoff man of all time. www.cupofcoffeenews.com/cup-of-coffe...

Sean McDonough says Indiana was “held under 30 (points) only twice” … yeah, by the two teams they played that finished with winning records — Michigan & Ohio State. Six of their wins were against bottom 7 teams in Big 18 (other vs. Wash.) and nonconference wins came against two 4-8 teams and a 5-7.

PSA: Saturday is one of the all-time great sports TV days. Starting at 4:30 a.m. w/Aston Villa-Man City, there are nonstop quality events for more than 17 hours, until at least 10 p.m. Two NFL games, three CFP games, soccer, golf, NHL, NBA and men’s & women’s college hoops. Get your rest!

When it comes to sports viewership, there are a couple of people in the country I trust for deep evaluation. They don't play or make their money in the endless culture war. They offer context/historical knowledge of sports viewership data over the years. The dude is below is one of those people.

ESPN’s Chris Fowler all over the importance of that blocked PAT by Falcons, who were favored by 5.5 and lead 15-9: “That is of great interest here in the city of Las Vegas and beyond as the lead remains six.”

“Herbert misses the throw” … the pass hit McConkey between his two hands and he dropped it. Mark Sanchez only slightly better today than Chargers’ play in second half.

Football gods are penalizing Lions for wearing those uniforms in a showdown game.

Keeping the Rarity Score under 1 … feel like I should treat it as a mic drop. (Always helps when can use obscure Padres who just pop in and out of my somewhat addled brain.)

Apparently Newman is my new postal carrier because this just arrived in the mail today … Dec. 13. (And it was time-sensitive but it wasn’t important.)

“I’m not even sure what we just watched” is perfect description from Greg Olson of the end of Commanders-Cowboys. Neither team deserved to win based on last few seconds but somehow Dallas looks like they will. Probably.
