Who's in? #DoTheWriteThing

Something that came from today's writing session: Dragons would have problems with a lot of human furniture. Your average chair would be no good because it doesn't account for even the stubbiest of dragon tails. #writing #dragons

It's been 6 months since the big move, and I've finally sorted my writing nook. #writing

Why have we never had a sequel to Monsters vs Aliens?

Yesterday was a bit of a rough one. BUT I did manage to sell a book *Happy writer noises*

Oh, I do feel bad for them. No, really, I do. I'm not being sarcastic. (Okay, maybe a smidge 😈). Karma is a wonderful thing.

"Having such an imagination must be great." Sure, except for the bit when it drys up for months every time you sit behind a screen. And then info dumps 6 months of ideas in a day. Now, which idea to work on today #writing

• Get a library card • Use your library card • Support indie booksellers • Read banned books • Read diverse authors • Resist • Repeat #booksky #resist

It's bath day. Jasper doesn't like bath day. Luckily he is a master of disguise. Trained in the art of blending in with his surroundings. Stealthy like a ninja. Invisible like the wind. #dogs

My girlfriend surprised me at christmas with a Blokees kit. You can't get these here for love nor money. I can see this becoming an expensive addiction 🤩

It's a bit snowy and foggy on Gillyford, so Henrietta is giving Santa a hand to make sure he can finish his rounds. Happy Christmas from everyone on the island.

I recommend no fewer than 4 copies of any beloved book. A paperback for traveling and lending to friends, an eBook for reading with greasy snack fingers, an audio book so you know how the characters' names are actually pronounced, and a pristine hardcover to be buried with you like a pharaoh

I got to work to an unexpected present from one of my favourite users today. I'm going to try and get my official title changed to match.

In 1986, 8 year old me watched Transformers: The Movie for the first time. Today, 46 year old me watched Transformers One, and I've been left with that same feeling. Something I didn't think I'd ever feel again. For a brief time, I was that 8 year old boy again.

One thing that keeps me going is the multiverse theory where every possibility exists. That means somewhere there is a version of me in a quaint English village, writing in peace, and solving the occasional murder mystery with my wife, Kiera Knightley.

Authors, please write for those who can't. Share their stories. Expand minds. It is a privilege to wield such a weapon (mighty pen), while tucked under warm covers away from harm. A debt of gratitude is owed to librarians, for providing safe retreats in this crazy world. #protectbooks #booksky 💙📚

My Spotify wrap really highlighted why I can never answer when I get asked what my favourite kind of music is. One day, I'm bopping to Dolly Parton, the next transcending reality with Joe Hisaishi. I'm curious what happened on Feb 27th. The Princess Monoke medley 97 times?

Libraries are a haven. I'm fortunate to have access to an absolutely superb one. Never take them for granted.

I've utterly failed #whamaggedon this year. Two days 😬

Mum popped around to visit her furry grandkids today. With Monty sporting another of his fabulous outfits.

And with the last account I needed to follow (for work purposes), now being on BlueSky, I have officially deactivated my account on the other site. It's like a weight has been lifted.

"Pacifism is not passivity. It’s the active protection of all living things in the natural universe." - Hemmer, Strange New Worlds. It is not enough to stand idly by. You don't need to save the whole world. Just make a difference to one person. Then, tomorrow, do it again.

Monty Moo, sporting the latest in winter wear for the discerning gentleman dog.

I spent a couple of hours just reading today. It was amazing. I can't remember the last time I was able to do that. Just me, a book, a hot chocolate, and the woofers 🐶

One act of kindness a day. 💙

I love it when chapters have titles.

It's been a few years since I first heard the story of how Peter developed both the voice of one of the most iconic characters of my childhood. And it never fails to inspire. "If you're going to be a hero, be a hero. Be true. Be strong enough to be gentle"

Is it too early to watch Muppets Christmas Carol?

#WriterWednesday library-love moment.

Something love in my role as head of IT at the day job: you never know what you'll be doing when handling lots of legacy systems. This week, I had to dust off this bad boy.

Evening, all. I've got a question for my fellow Trekkies. Can you think of any 4th wall break other than McCoy at the end of Journey to Babel? #startrek

My current read: Berserker by Ade Edmonson. I'm not normally a fan of autobiographies, but as a fan since childhood, I had to get this. It's absolutely fascinating look at an incredibly varied career 💙📚
