Vaccines Cause Adults! One of my favorite signs from yesterday’s Fort Collins Stand Up for Science rally.

Gebetic Diversity paper doi link is broken. Here is citation (withoout offending doi:) Schmidt, C., Karachaliou, E., Vandergast, and others (2025), A Survey of Mammal and Fish Genetic Diversity Across the Global Protected Area Network. Conservation Letters., 18: e13092.

New paper by Schmidt et al. (doi.org/10.1111/conl...) genetic diversity finds mammal populations more genetically diverse near multiple protected areas. Older marine protected areas had more genetically diverse fish populations. Brought to you by the Powell Center ([email protected])

nearly 11% of the NSF workforce was fired today. this WILL slow scientific progress. this is hurting families. we need to educate folks about all the GOOD that the gov't can do! To help @500womensci.bsky.social has made social media cards for what #NSF funds in each state: bit.ly/NSF_bystate

Only you can prevent forest fires.. 🔥

Proud to be a long-time member of 500 Women Scientists AND a public servant.

New report: Sustainable Nitrogen Management in agrifood systems🌱 Nitrogen is vital for life, but mismanagement harms ecosystems, degrades soils, and drives climate change. Discover solutions to boost productivity, cut pollution, and secure food systems.🌍 🔗bit.ly/3PLv1XJ

Where is the Ecological Society of America?!

It's official: Sandra Díaz & Eduardo Brondízio Win the 2025 Tyler Prize! 💬 "The climate crisis, biodiversity loss & inequalities are all connected." – Díaz & Brondízio Let’s celebrate these changemakers! #TylerPrize #Biodiversity #Sustainability #ClimateAction #GlobalSouth

1/n Please see our new paper in Nature Communications! We used 1,851 tree-ring fire-scar sites and contemporary fire perimeters to quantify the prevalence of wildfire from 1600-1880 compared to 1984-2022. 🧪🌍🔥 Our key findings are as follows ...

New paper out today by Parks et al. Nature showing widespread fire deficit still present across North America, despite recent iuptick in fires. doi.org/10.1038/s414.... Further, contemporary fire extent is not unprecendented in tree rig record. Synthesis by Powell Center.

New Powell Center publication by Margolis and others doi.org/10.1111/geb.... finds that the increasing aridity that has driven widespread synchronous fire occurrence in recent years is not unprecedented according to dendrochronology but will likely continue in the future.

First bluesky post! Will never be a must-read, but proud to make 40 years of field notebooks available online: Field Notebooks from Loch Vale watershed, Rocky Mountain National Park, research from 1981 through 2023: U.S. Geological Survey data release, doi.org/10.5066/P1CX....

Congrats to Katie Rocci on publication about local N deposition. We found no evidence of high traffic in RMNP driving higher roadside deposition at open or forested sites, possibly due to the topographic complexity at RMNP. link.springer.com/article/10.1.... Reach out if you need access.

I love this graph but I'd like to see the amount left to just flow through. You could assume that it's the 4% that's going to hydroelectric uses. The categories themselves leave 1% unaccounted for. So best case guess, 5% of the river makes it to the ocean....

Woohoo!! Welcome @freshwater-science.bsky.social !!!
