The Christmas season saw the largest slave rebellion in the British Caribbean, the Christmas Rebellion or Baptist War. From late Dec 1831 to Jan 1832, nearly 60,000 slaves, led by Black Baptist preacher Samuel Sharpe, went on strike and rebelled, demanding freedom and higher wages. 👇🏾
