When we take part in unproductive meetings, the effect isn't just the immediate impact of wasted time. The effect can go on for hours. It's called a "meeting hangover": a period of diminished focus, motivation or productivity following a bad meeting. hbr.org/2025/02/the-.... V brentreed.bsky.social

When wouldn't you? Love this idea for helping Ts think through their strategy and why they would and would not use it. #EduCoach open.substack.com/pub/cognitiv...

I have seen lots of these missteps in coaching programs. Really useful conversation about the qualities coaches need! Thoughtful reflection.

Learning doesn't always happen because of teaching. Sometimes no learning happens at all. But our teaching should be a direct result of knowing how to make learning happen. Design for learning has an effect size of 0.70, nearly 2 years' growth. #EduSky #EduCoach

Teachers help students grow, but who helps teachers? Coaching conversations—focused, intentional, and growth-driven—give educators space to reflect, build on strengths, and create positive change. What could happen if every teacher had access to this kind of support? #EduSky #EduCoach

Some really helpful considerations for planning instruction and helping to separate tasks. Too often we ask Ss to multitask and aren't considering the impact of the multitasking.

I love this. Will definitely check out this book. Thank you for sharing! Thinking of coaching in terms of building mental models has always spoken to me.

Sometimes schools are so focused on collaboration that they forget the power of individual reflection time. Share w/us: How do you protect teachers’ need for quiet processing and reflection? What are the benefits of providing that kind of space?🤫🤔 #EduCoach

I loved what Ada Limon had to say about writer's block in her talk at #NCTE24 today: "It is not so much that you don't have anything to say; it's that you have so much to say." We have to take time to sort through the overwhelmingness of it all, time to let one good idea at a time shine through.

This is my version of something I heard on a reel shared by a friend who knew I would appreciate the sentiment. It’s similar to something that I often say, which is, “If it’s not fun, make it fun.” Let’s use our creativity to make things better & brighter.
