So validating for me to read. I also love these kinds of days for the same reasons you mention. I am thinking now about how to communicate with teachers some of these interesting noticings...

Yes! So many truths in this one, I think. I have been thinking. About mental models and the ones I bring into coaching, as well as the ones the client is using to view their situation, and it has been really helpful...

I think getting better at social decentering might be something that could improve the world... Give us more empathy, help us see one another's perspectives more clearly... Such important listening work!

My dissertation work was on social regulation and social decentering, a concept that has been used in marriage counseling, which is building a mental model of another person's thinking. Operationalizing and articulating those mental models, reflecting them back to the coachee can be so helpful!

I am wondering if students rated their thinking (rather than engagement)......would the results look different? Because, like you suggested, maybe they are defining "engagement" differently than the teacher was?

I think providing Ts with early notice of topics to be discussed in meetings--and opportunity to prepare--is really helpful. I know when I have a heads up about what is going to be discussed, I really appreciate the advance think time. Helping everyone to know where we're headed next is respectful.
