Gently?

The part that hasn’t sinked in yet is that “our allies” are completely different today than throughout US history. So, the “free world” shouldn’t trust the US, precisely because they are no longer allies. That’s what’s terrifying. We are the baddies.

one of key functions of immigration raids & crackdowns is not to actually deport all migrants/refugees but to deepen conditions of social precarity & labor deportability. to make migrants more vulnerable to exploitation from bosses & landlords & banks, and to create scapegoats for austerity policies

Just going to keep saying this: there is *no reason* to repost rumors of ICE arrests. None. Don't do it. Even live videos of arrests in progress are not newsworthy and help no one but ICE. There are many other ways to help www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/s...

The TPS extension for Venezuelans comes in with thousands facing an expiration date on April 3, 2025. Great temporary relief. It remains to be seen how the Trump administration deals with TPS going forward. www.dhs.gov/news/2025/01...

The GOP is mounting the largest, most brazen post-election disenfranchisement effort since Trump's frivolous litigation in 2020. This time, however, they may get away with it and the legacy media is largely asleep. Follow @democracydocket.com to stay up to date.

Inflation has been going down, murder rates as well, expect this data to hit the news like “a brand new trend” starting January 20.

“At least 1,107 people drowned crossing the Rio Grande between Texas and Mexico from 2017 to 2023, a figure significantly higher than has been previously reported.” New report from @lhreports.bsky.social, using data we obtained from CBP, on migrant drownings at the US/Mexico border in TX.

Hooded Venezuelan state security agents abducted pro-democratization activist Jesús Armas as he was leaving a coffee shop in Caracas this evening. His whereabouts are currently unknown. #DóndeEstáJesús

It's astounding how the anti-immigrant crime narrative has taken over, despite this: We've had the fastest increase in the immigrant share of the population in decades, and the fastest ever decline in the US homicide rate.

Remarkable scenes in South Korea. There might be hope yet for the world.

At the ICC Assembly of State Parties, the Prosecutor Karim Khan described how the complementarity track with the Maduro regime is “running out of road,” while warning that the investigation track continues, in light of decisions made by the OTP. Will we see arrest warrants for Venezuelans soon?

@nomoredeaths.bsky.social hello, there. I’m interested in talking with you in preparation for a BU law trip to Texas and NM. Within the International Human Right Clinic, we are working on the international human rights aspect of migrant deaths in the US-Mexico border and we would love to connect.

Susie Wiles used to lobby for Raúl Gorrín, the Venezuelan owner of the TV channel Globovisión and Maduro propagandist. She attempted to put Maduro in Trump’s good list around 2017. Does this signal a new US approach to Maduro, and in turn, mass deportations to Venezuela? apnews.com/article/susi...

The intimidation to human rights defenders from the Venezuelan government continues. Oscar Murillo from Provea is attending a citation at the CICPC in Caracas. Many members of the press are in attendance. The eyes of the world should be on this human rights defender today.

@amnistiaamericas.bsky.social Oscar Murillo, the Gen. Coordinator of Provea, one of the most prominent human rights NGOs in #Venezuela, has been cited for interrogation at the CICPC, an infamous police unit known for gross human rights violations. The attack against human rights defenders continues.
