Ok, keep it on the DL, but with all this mess with indirects and NIH I think our admin staff (who is wonderful btw) needs a little something. Suggestions for a reminder they are appreciated? I gave them a gift basket when I joined (they were awesome setting up) so I didn’t want to repeat myself…

My friends are dying. People are dying of #LongCovid and #MECFS while society keeps ignoring their existence. Rest in peace, Faraz. Sorry we failed you.

8yo just got her purple belt in Karate and is over the moon!! (Also, conversation from a couple of days ago: Dad, I have a lot of emotions. I think boxing will help.)

8yo: Being 8 is hard. But I know it was harder for you. Me: You think so? 8yo: I know so. But you will always have me and I will always have you. Me: thank you, angel. 8yo: I’m not an angel!! Me: See? You don’t know everything.

Babies were climbing out of the high chairs, so we bought a five point harness. The look of betrayal in their faces..,

This is the place I come to rest when everything is ugly. Thanks for being here (or anywhere) Bluesky.

The National Institutes of Health had to stop considering new grant applications, delaying funding for research into diseases ranging from heart disease and cancer to Alzheimer's and allergies.

Look, I get it, I read: - Animal farm - 1984 - V for Vendetta Saw the movies for the last one, plus a bunch of other movies and games on the same topic. Didn’t see watership down, yet was still traumatized by it. We can stop with the practical demonstration, I get it.

“Speaking words of wisdom: Let it be.” Or maybe, here’s a thought, don’t? Don’t let it be?

You know how some kids have nightmares about falling, and snakes, and spiders and stuff? 8yo dreamt about the Fates cutting the string of life of a young mother. (And was devastated). Who dreams in Greek mythology??!

A second tooth fell off in the same number of days. 6yo:”Sister, the tooth fairy may not come, she has to get money for the other children. It’s very rare that she comes twice in a row…”

Reviews back from a rejected LOI. Funny stuff: Reviewer 1: “ERC, new to the field, will do CRISPRa/i. Creative approach, overall solid proposal.” Reviewer 2:”still too preliminary, it is unclear how many cell lines.” It was an LOI. Not a full proposal. An LOI. No details on methods. Sigh.

Come to Alabama. It will be warm, they said.

“I wanna send the tooth fairy money back!!! Because she is so nice!!” 6yo.

… … Well this isn’t going to end well.

8yo is upset. Me: Was it a hard day today? 8yo: Yes. 6yo: It is hard to be the oldest sister, with three younger ones. But I’ll help. 8yo: Thank you, sister. Later… 6yo: Dad, it’s hard to be the middle one too. But at least I get a lot of cuddles! These girls…

Spouse: “oh this twin’s diaper came loose. Fixed it though, luckily nothing happened!” Me: “Are you sure?” Spouse: “What’s that all across the hallway??” Me: “….I’ll get the mop”. Life of glamor we lead :P

I noticed something and can’t stop thinking about it - after looking for 8yo’s first, I then looked at the other kids’ chosen words. These are words that symbolize what they want to improve in themselves. One kid wrote: “Carouge” I think that kid may be the bravest.

Ok, so the other account is zombified, and I will only post new stuff here. Enthralling, I know :)

Yesterday’s cake. Twins approved :)

Meeseeks!

Me: once there was a dog 6yo: who lived with a lady! Me: that lady was a 6yo: scientist!! Me: And she studied 6yo: The stars!! I wonder little one, I wonder.

I remain with a presence on the other side because I think it’s worth saying stuff for them to listen. But wow is it getting harder. From people being argumentative with stories of the girls, to rage-baiting… I think I may be done.
