Ohio! Time to stand up! Tell your friends. Tell your neighbors. Repost even if you're not in Ohio. Science benefits us all and it is in danger. We need to shout this message loud and clear. #standupforscience2025

Scientists, I love you. I love your passion. I am one of you. But we have to talk about *how* we communicate what’s happening. People won’t fight for “science” in the abstract. They’ll fight when they understand what they are losing. A quick guide: Not this, but this. 🧵

📣I am hiring! Looking to hire a research coordinator to start in my lab later this spring/early summer to coordinate a new R01 in which we are aiming to optimize a CBT-based self-guided digital intervention for eating disorders! Apply here: wustl.wd1.myworkdayjobs.com/en-US/Extern... 1/n

Some great news on efforts to reduce infant mortality in Hamilton County, Ohio. www.google.com/amp/s/www.pb...

Reading gne Grilo & Pittman paper and commentaries for lab meeting. One thing that struck me- aren't these relative low restraint scores (especially pretreatment) and a very small increase in rigid restraint? onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10....

Writing my first "theory"ish paper and hoping I don't have to cut the word "clandestine" in the final version.

Still sinking in that my department voted for my promotion and tenure

Wow. We just did our annual semester wrap up and my team ran over 110 in person study visits this semester. So proud of the team!

Good mentorship lasts your whole career

Driving by the old state hospital here in Athens (the Ridges) daily really centers the good and the bad in the history of psychiatry. It is also an incredibly beautiful building.

Ok I made an #eatingdisorder starter pack- who did I miss? go.bsky.app/Fsn93mM

We are hiring an experimental health psychologist. It's an exciting time here at Ohio University, with an active clinical and quantitative search, too! www.ohiouniversityjobs.com/postings/51432

Always amazes me how much the body influences the mind. Turns out my contacts prescription was way too high. I feel so much more relaxed now that I am not constantly squinting.

Finally an evidence-based fortune

What happens to gastrointestinal symptoms during outpatient therapy for bulimia nervosa and related eating disorders? We found that elevated post meal fullness and feeling full easily both decrease over treatment and follow-up onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10....

Updating a book chapter and the dip in publications on the topic in 2020 is remarkable. Not surprising, but clearly there.

Looking forward to connecting at my first (in person) ABCT in quite some time!

I'm hoping to recruit a new clinical psychology doctoral student with an interest in eating disorders and/or body image for Fall 2024. You can learn more about what is going on in my lab and what I look for in candidates here: ohio.edu/cas/labs/b-wel

📣😀Excited to announce I will be recruiting 1-2 Clinical Psych PhD students for the 2024 cycle. Students interested in ED prevention and treatment, body image, & LGBTQ+ healthare especially encouraged to apply! acceptlab.wixsite.com/acceptlab/gr...

📣Pending final approval for funding, Aaron Blashill & I anticipate hiring a fulltime postdoctoral fellow/project director on a NIH-sponsored trial to further develop and pilot test a novel psychosocial treatment for sexual minority adults living with an eating disorder.

Haven’t seen one of these yet, so here’s a body image/eating disorder researcher roundup. Tag yourself or your friends, or introduce yourself and your work in the comments! 🧵
