WYSIWYG – I loathe identity politics, but for your info, farm-boy turned theoretical physicist, solar developer, lecturer and author in innovation dynamics, solar, science education. Now retired dog-walker, photographer, traveller, Blueskyer.

It might as well be Spring.

Nah! It used to be “all about the oil” - now it’s “all about the strategic minerals” ( of which China has a lot and the US not much)

Agree! I was staggered at the incompetence of the interviewer on ABCRN Breakfast who didn’t pick up on this stupid ratio. Have they all got long Covid or were they born stupid?

Absolutely agree! The left has tried combatting fear with reason. We have to fight fire with fire with short sharp sentences!

The ABC will become Dutton’s Faux News. Infrastructure all in place!

They’re just “Social Norms” and Normesses.

There’s also “induced ADHD”, where “normal” people have been conditioned to think that all ideas can be reduced to a binary “yes-no” or “either-or”. “Don’t confuse me with details- what’s the bottom line”. Interesting how they got to the top of the social heap!

Agree! I used to manage a large Australian R&D fund where we co-funded consultants to develop their applications. With early filters this enabled “fast failure” thus not wasting effort. Full applications had 50% success rate with prospect of re-applying. Everybody happy if not satisfied!

Hi Rick! I share your sentiments! Certainly the RW media monopoly and the effete ABC make it hard, but ALP ministers need a few lessons in how to be short, sharp and to the point in interviews. Oh – and attack the LNP mercilessly. They know their stuff, but drone like old style Uni lecturers.

Stokes said last year that he kept 7 “for strategic purposes”. I wonder what those “purposes” are!

I instigated and then managed WA’s “Centres of Excellence” R&D funding in the 90’s and then switched to Assoc Prof at Murdoch U just in time to do battle with the “suits” over control of R&D funding and then lectured MScs in innovation. Academics reduced to gig workers in an extractive industry!

Many thanks! Best wishes!

While agreeing vigorously with you, you haven’t made the case as to how teaching and research are, or will eventually suffer from managerialism. Best wishes!

Absolutely excellent summary, Matt!

Despite the common misconception, a petard was not something that you are “hoisted” on in the modern use of the word.

False flag? You may have a point there. Or maybe six?

Possibly deliberate to attract more attention. Particularly as it was probably AI generated with autocorrect.

Having seen the European cut-flower industry at Lake Naivasha in Kenka- 40% - with virtual slave labour- Colombia would be better off without it but it would have a significant psycholgical impact on the US come Feb14.

The Southern section of the Kwinana Fwy is infrastructure for the Kwinana industrial area including defence industries. Beats the shit out of pork and ride!

Nah – if you’ve ever done a quick tour through London, Paris, Berlin and Istanbul to Gallipoli, you’d understand that WW1 was “all about the oil”. What was Sykes Picot about? Read Peter Frankopan’s “The Silk Roads” – Churchill knew this!

M#sk would get a mandatory 12 months for his “salute”. Would a D3tton govet invite him to Oz?

Hi Matt! Great to see you here! Any ideas on how to stop Australia going down the road to a “golden future”? How do we break out of our echo chamber?

My problem with bsky is that most of my (unsolicited)“followers” seem to be young women offering me a good time. Probably sent by Elon!

Strange – it’s my go-to as it’s current and (seemingly) bot-free – altho there’s some real persistent trivia-generators.

“A single death is a tragedy, a million deaths are a statistic”. (Stalin) These guys only deal in statistics – the natural home of psychopaths.
