DOGE giving real EJMR vibes right now

Can we start referring to them as techbrocrats?

"The humanitarian solution: resettlement now for all Gazans" Sick on so many levels

Something has indeed gone horribly wrong.

It's not that surprising that Trump would condemn millions of people to death to score some cheap points with his base. But I'm genuinely shocked I haven't seen more outrage from parts of his base (e.g. Evangelicals who donate to World Vision or go on missions to Africa) even in my liberal bubble.

PEPFAR is *currently providing* lifesaving HIV treatment for 20.6 million people, including 566,000 children, as of Sept. 30, 2024. That treatment is now in serious jeopardy. I'm sure people in the administration don't want half a million kids on their conscience. www.nytimes.com/2025/01/24/u...

For Jews, defining oneself vis-a-vis Zionism means two things. Firstly, how you feel about the history of the Zionist project. Secondly, how you feel about the Zionist mainstream, in the diaspora or in Israel (very different contexts). It *does not* translate to well defined political platform. 1/

Incomprehensible levels of cynicism

Why is our government still using Stata???

"But look at those pretrends!" - RFK, if he were an economist

Hello #econsky. I am building a grad-level course for next semester on Macro Development with a focus on agriculture and the environment. Please share and shamelessly (self-)promote any JMPs, WPs, and underrated bangers that you think would be worth including in the syllabus.

The only people in my starter pack are Mas-Collel, Whinston, and Green

Farm households in developing countries face many different market failures. But how do they each matter for aggregate productivity? And what should policymakers do about them? My JMP provides a new way to answer these questions using data from rural Thailand. 1/

Check out my fellow ARE job candidates and me over on the other place and stay tuned for a JMP 🧵. twitter.com/AreBerkeley/...
