Milton Williams was close with Carolina...but he's signing with the New England Patriots, per Adam Schefter! Pats are spending BIG on defense.

Mike Vrabel's defenses (in Houston and Tennessee) were mediocre on average. with the investments the Patriots have made there ... the expectation should be higher

the new england patriots

And now Milton Williams. A defensive overhaul.

Guessed $25M. Don’t mind being slightly off. Am looking forward to seeing the Patriots DLine in action

Wild turn of events. Patriots land their top target

Splash: The Patriots are taking the biggest defender off the market, as Eagles DT Milton Williams lands in New England, per me and Mike Garafolo. Williams gets a $26M per year.

The Patriots have agreed to terms with ex-Eagle Milton Williams, per source. New England makes a splash along its defensive line by adding the Super Bowl LIX champion.

Moses is pretty much what I expected given the current market. He will play RT until someone is ready to replace him. Provides veteran leadership and, above all else, consistency and availability.

On Chris Godwin - source says the Patriots were very involved there. They made a strong run. AdamSchefter just said on ESPN that Godwin had a bigger offer from the Patriots on the table

The Patriots and free-agent OT Morgan Moses are in agreement on a 3-year deal worth $24 million. It has a maximum value of $28.5 million. The 34-year-old Moses started 14 games last season for the Jets (RT). 158 career starts. In the later stages of his career, structure of deal bears watching.

It sounds like Milton Williams to Carolina isn't quite done yet. Still room for a change there.

Patriots moves: Signings: DE Harold Landry LB Robert Spillane CB Carlton Davis Re-signings: TE Austin Hooper Trading: DT Davon Godchaux

When I was projecting big-money deals for @mdabatenfl.bsky.social in this week’s appearance on the Locked on Patriots they were all three-year deals. So far, every big money Patriot deal has been for three years. Will have a smile on my face the next time I take a lap😇

There's a theme with the Patriots first three free agent signings: Harold Landry - played with Mike Vrabel and Terrell Williams in Tennessee. Robert Spillane - played with Mike Vrabel and Terrell Williams in Tennessee. Carlton Davis - played with Terrell Williams in Detroit

Milton Williams rushing inside next to a healthy Derrick Brown

The Patriots are working hard on their defense so far: Edge Harold Landry CB Carlton Davis LB Robert Spillane All added. All 3 have familiarity with DC Terrell Williams from his time in Tennessee and Detroit.

The Patriots have agreed to terms on a deal with CB Carlton Davis, source tells me. ...more like Carlton BANKS

A big one for Mike Vrabel and the Patriots... CB Carlton Davis @theathletic.bsky.social

CB Carlton Davis to the New England Patriots on a $20M AAY deal (Schefter) Patriots are making moves on defense. Harold Landry, Robert Spillane and now Davis added.

Dan Moore making more than Ronnie Stanley is not something I was ready to see from this free-agent class

Adam Schefter reports that Milton Williams is finalizing a deal with the Carolina Panthers. Big blow for the Patriots. Williams was a top target

Patriots signing free-agent LB Robert Spillane (Raiders) to a 3-year, $37 million deal, per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. Spillane entered the NFL in 2018 with the Titans as an undrafted free agent -- Mike Vrabel's first year as head coach there. So familiarity comes into play again.

LB Robert Spillane and the Patriots have agreed to terms, per source.

The Patriots are signing LB Robert Spillane to a three-year, $37.5M contract, per source. Spillane has played under Mike Vrabel and Josh McDaniels. www.bostonherald.com/2025/03/10/s...

Adam Schefter on Chris Godwin: "The Patriots were coming at him very hard."

The Texans and WR Braxton Berrios have agreed to a one-year, $2 million deal, per source. Berrios could return kicks for Houston as well.

Per Ian Rapoport, Chris Godwin left $20 million on the table because he wanted to stay in Tampa Bay.

Some guys are just incredibly hard to imagine on a different team and Chris Godwin is exactly that. A well-deserved deal and major win for him and Tampa Bay.

I'm going to guess Chris Godwin's rehab has a lot to do with him staying home for cheaper. When coming back from an injury that serious, there is a real value to going through that process with a medical staff you know and trust. And without having to move.

Rapoport said Godwin left about $20M on the table to go back to the Bucs… but don’t underestimate the fit and the grace that comes with familiarity as Chris works back from injury. And you get to stay home. $66M contract/$44M guaranteed

On TV Rapoport says Godwin turned down an offer worth $20M more.

Welcome to NFL free agency. Twitter's loss is Bluesky's gain. Maybe the NFL will end up wishing it had allowed its teams to open accounts here.

One of the many reasons I left Twitter was the degradation of its service. Today’s outages on that application confirmed I made the right choice. BlueSky has gotten better since I joined. Expect more improvements in the future. Let’s go.

Haason Reddick has agreed to terms on a 1 year deal for $14mil with $12mil guaranteed with the Buccaneers. Deal negotiated by Drew Rosenhaus

Left tackle Jaylon Moore to the Kansas City Chiefs on a two-year deal, per Adam Schefter on ESPN

Haasan Reddick to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, per Adam Schefter on ESPN.

The legal tampering window opens in about 15 minutes. One NFL executive said to me earlier to expect free agency to last "all of 13 seconds." Buckle in.

Trump crash economy

Khalil Mack and the Chargers have agreed to a one-year, $18 million fully guaranteed deal, per source. Mack is back 💥

The New York Liberty are holding a preseason exhibition at the University of Oregon, a return to Eugene for Sabrina Ionescu and Nyara Sabally. Part of a cool emerging trend of WNBA teams helping their stars return to their collegiate roots www.espn.com/wnba/story/_...

Even though the Davon Godchaux trade will not become official until Wednesday I have now updated my Patriots salary cap space numbers to reflect the trade. The trade almost doubled the 2025 Patriots dead money total. Have Patriots with close to $131.2M in cap space and $106M in effective cap space.

The Davon Godchaux trade created $706,666 in 2025 cap space and $11,833,334 in 2026 cap space. Current cap number of $8,333,333 minus dead money total of $6,666,667 minus the $960K salary of Godchaux’s replacement on the Top 51 list equals $706,666

Again, numerous economists called Trump’s economic plan disastrous — which is why I am dying on the hill that the economy wasn’t the primary concern for voters. That’s simply how many voters rationalized voting for white supremacy.

Funds fact: 5 of the 5 last recessions began under Republican presidents

After Donald Trump nearly ruined the US by mishandling COVID Joe Biden created an economy that was rightly hailed as the envy of the world During which he created 17 million jobs-by far the most of any president during one term And mostly kept unemployment below 4%-an historically low figure
