We get data *from* the WHO. Without this, we're flying blind with data regarding evolution of infectious agents globally, putting us behind if we need to develop vaccines & treatments, just for one aspect. This puts the whole country at risk.

Learn about the periodic ER organization along neurites in insects and vertebrates and its potential role in long-range Ca2+ signal integration www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti... by the fabulous @lorenabenedetti.bsky.social and friends.

BREAKING NEWS: A powerful 7.0 earthquake has struck off the northern California coast. A tsunami warning has been issued. The tsunami warning stretches hundreds of miles from the Bay Area of California north into central Oregon.

High-resolution template matching of the human ribosome in situ by Lippincott-Schwartz Lab @hhmijanelia.bsky.social @hhmi.bsky.social. >40 conformations within together reveal molecular dynamics of the elongation cycle with previously unknown bending and “spring-like” motion.

Could one envision a synthetic receptor technology that is fully programmable, able to detect diverse extracellular antigens – both soluble and cell-attached – and convert that recognition into a wide range of intracellular responses, from gene expression and real-time fluorescence to modulation..

A video we made at @mbarinews.bsky.social explaining some functions of #fluorescence in the ocean, and how #bioluminescence is different… but related. 🦑🧪🌊 m.youtube.com/watch?v=whbe...

#ExM has transformed how we perceive the microbial diversity all around us. Some gorgeous critters from the @EMBLHeidelberg pond - DNA red, centrin yellow, tubulin gray, images by @fmikus.bsky.social Bonus points if you identify at least 4! Want more? www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1... #PlanExM

My turn to create a starter pack for scientists using live imaging in their research! Of course, I’ve likely missed many—please let me know who else I should include. Thanks! go.bsky.app/KYYr7xc #liveimaging #livevellimaging #microscopy

Here's a starter pack that focuses on engineers/builders/makers/enablers of optical tools for (cell) biology. I'm pretty sure that the pack is incomplete - if you want to join the list, please reply with your favorite probe (that you made or used) and I'll add you 🤓 go.bsky.app/2YVvYER

Starter Pack: Collective #CellMigration /Dynamics is growing. Looking at related emergent phenomena eg. #intercallation, dorsal closure or branching #morphogenesis? Reach out! Also modelers, soft-matter physicists & YOUNG scientists etc etc! go.bsky.app/DLUDYX3 #cellbio #SoftMatterPhysics #science

Is basic science undervalued? David Glanzman (UCLA) talks about the decline of 'middle class' labs and that "there is no empirical evidence that the translational approach accomplishes this [cures] any better than the traditional one. Claims to the contrary at this point are mere propaganda."

Introducing the Goga Lab @ctbatucsf.bsky.social @ucsfcancer.bsky.social We study aggressive breast and liver cancers and mechanisms of oncogene signaling that lead to metastasis. Our works spans various areas including metabolism, cell cycle and spatial organization of tumors. oncogenes.net

Ottman Tertuliano and I are looking for a postdoc to work on optogenetics & mechanobiology! Email me at [email protected] if you or someone you know is interested! https://www.med.upenn.edu/orl/boerckellab/
