Dell's Jungle Jim in the Adventure of the Face Eating Leopard.

Orson Welles If I find myself with free time, I might Doodle out a comic strip with a character as an Orson Welles expy as an unreliable narrator, charming as he'll, who leads you off on bizarre tangents but you don't care, because the company is so good.

The Legend of the MURDER STEER Found this bit of Texas Legend in an old Western comic. Winter, 1890, West Texas There is a big roundup of mavericks (unbranded cattle), and a brindle yearling steer's ownership will lead to death, and the birth of a legend. <1/9>

Daily Hanna Barbera Bonus Hanna Barbera Cartoon Sound FX A CD of familiar sound effexts from HB cartoons, including the Jet Screamer Entrance sound and a congratulations message from Snagglepuss. The CD is from 2006, but the collectiom seems older - answering machine messages is a very 90s thing.

Daily Hanna Barbera 1965's Winsome Witch, aka Winnie, and she does indeed has a winsome or childlike outlook on life. A real witch, but nothing wicked. Part of the Secret Squirrel show, with familiar sound effects and voices. Winnie is voiced by Jean Vander Pyl, who voiced Wilma Flintstone.

The narrator for Fractured Fairy Tales (1959-1961 / Rocky and Bulwinkle) was character actor Edward Everett Horton Jr. What a fantastic job he did with the brief segments lampooning classic fairy tales. Rocky and Bulwinkle aired before school for me. Not a bad start to a schoolday.

Who doesn't love a good fake, as long as we aren't the one left holding the bag? I marvel that the old chestnut of 'the moon llanding was faked' seems more popular now than ever. Perhaps because its astounding to think a group could fake something that momentous.

It isn't whether something is real or a fake, but is it a good fake or is it a bad fake?

So many faces are going to eaten by the face eating leopards.

Daily Hanna Barbera - Ted Turner HB was in decline from the 1982 animator's strike on, outsourcing animation, and competing with toy-based cartoons. Except for the Smurfs, not doing well. Ted Turner came in 1991, used the HB library as a launch point for Cartoon Network.

Johnny Bravo This guy makes me smile. Maybe you consider him a Hanna Barbera Character, or a Cartoon Network character, or a Van Partible character. This turn of the Century cartoon character made my days a little merrier.

Tik Tok Lad How could the LoSH pass up Tik Tok Lad? Mystery Lad here is funny. He says he'll show his power to one Legionnaire. So he and Saturn Girl go into a room together, alone. Later she comes out and says his power is wonderful! He went on to become Casanova Kid

Dr Stein of Firestorm in Super Friends Legenary Super Powers Show (1984) in a striking frame in the 'becoming firestorm' sequence

I do forget Alt Text. Sorry. If you repost something with alt text, great. If you reply to a post and say, 'Love your post. Think about alt text' - also great. Both encourage alt text If you reply with the original with alt text, and monologue about it, you are chastising. I block scolds.

Arthurian Heroes Ever notice Camelot is *not* the status quo? It is a brief oasis - an example. The heroes are trying to do good, but are myopic and flawed, and ultimately fail (at least is sustaining Camelot) Comic book heroes - lacking a cycle seem less interesting in contrast.

Heavens to Murgatroyd, I'm on an ice rink. And I'm 3D. And its 1978. Exit, Stage Left. On skates, even.

Daily Hanna Barbera The Hanna Barbera All-Star Comedy Ice Revue was a 1 hour tv special in January 1978. A young ice skater finds a hidden door into a HB animated wonderland, then later brings characters into live action on the rink. With Bonnie Franklin and Roy Clark.

The Thunderer John Compton and Carl Burgos character for Golden Age Timely in 1941. He only had a few appearances, but such a striking costume. Very simple, but that hood and scarecrow mask. He fought Nazi saboteurs and such.

This is incredible! Like Orson Welles' War of the Worlds meets Threads meets Live Action Role Play. A mock German occupation of Winnipeg to incentivize a war bond drive. Wow. Himmlerstadt - it can happen here.

Robin - the Fredo Corleone of Worlds Finest

Invaders 26 (1978) Pencils by Frank Robbins Written by Roy Thomas (I know the Wolverine credit news with Roy Thomas is poor, but don't ignore his contributions because of that)

OTD in 1942 Executive Order 9066 Lobbied for by states governors and military leaders, signed by president FDR, reinforced by Congress, and approved by the Supreme court - about 120,000 people of Japanese ancestry, about 70,000 citizens by birth, were interned. www.archives.gov/milestone-do...
