This was so much fun! @jeffstormer.gobirds.online and I plotted the lives of two 70's era horror-themed superheroes, and the difficulties of fighting crime and finding love for a woman ablaze with eldritch fire and a man who turns into a mist-engulfed skeleton.

Listening to this again because @corpserevivers.bsky.social and @jeffstormer.gobirds.online went so good with this I needed more of it. Mr Beast The Riddler, Harvey Dent never becoming two-faced batman's messy exes. It is just so good.

thinking about Her,

If anything I held back on naming things named in We Didn't Start the Fire

A moment of silence for the Pagliacci joke. It got us through tough times, but is well and truly dead. It is survived by its loved ones, @brainmage.bsky.social, @jeffstormer.gobirds.online and many others. If this news has left you feeling depressed then... I'm sorry, I don't know what to tell you.

everytime @seaexcursion.itch.io, @jeffstormer.gobirds.online , an I get another session in of our Space Between Stars game (coming in 2026 by possibleworldgames) I'm reminded how much I love depicting ttrpgs as a comic book LOVE describing panels, word bubbles, page turns, textures, etc so good

when gwen stefani said “this shit is bananas” my first thought was “hold up. how do you spell that”

Good alt text on this is the thing

love to come back to a long running game's VTT love to see you again Dr. Zed Broklammer

Listen. A lot of yall in the last few weeks put your energy into the Philadelphia Eagles. I'm just gonna say it now. With baseball season coming up you need to be putting your energy specifically into Nick Castellanos. We need to be rooting for this man to hit as many home runs as possible. IYKYK.

Ya know, @jeffstormer.gobirds.online and I really never describe what the different fantasy peoples of @amfc-podcast.bsky.social look like. Except one. The Beastfolk. The Beastfolk, MF. Imagine the most fantasy-ass Furry artwork youve ever seen in your life. That. Thousands of times over, baby Ty

If you make your superhero someone just out of college who has trouble holding down a job, you never have to deal with "why don't they just buy crime" questions.

Making a podcast where all you do is world-build from scratch isnt JUST my favorite thing in the world, it is my *passion* All My Fantasy Children. Good podcast 🎃🤌 open.spotify.com/episode/4pXw...

conservatives don't actually care about states' rights or the national debt, and they know they don't care about it. pointing out the hypocrisy is pointless. stop playing their game and recognize that conservatives win by wanting things and leveraging power to get them. we need to do the same

‘A New Age Begins’ for Critical Role. Let’s hope it’s one for actual play and TTRPGs, too

When Jeff shared a draft with me, my immediate response was to say: "It sometimes feels like mainstream AP is actively embarrassed by the non-fictional layer to the detriment of the medium". And to the extent they're interested in the non-fictional layer, it's parasocially. As reality TV.

Currently, based on consensus, feeling like a doable plan is: Twice a month, on an off-day (we release Wednesday, maybe a Friday drop date), re-release an old episode with a thematic tie-in to this week's episode (similar guest, similar game, etc.), and a pre-intro intro explaining why THIS episode

This is a really useful and interesting distinction. We expect a different experience from a film than from a making-of documentary, and actual play is analogous to both. Naming the distinction can allow us to talk about what we do and don’t like with greater clarity.

Market research question: What is your feeling on a long-running podcast (say, an AP anthology show with 400+ episodes) re-posting old episodes on the feed? I am looking at the Party of One backlog, and people's responses of "I'd like to hear [guest from 200 episodes ago] on the show" and thinking.

I have been thinking a lot about this question because it's really, really interesting. I think it's coloring a lot of how I'm feeling in Actual Play overall, honestly.

People have been generally way nicer about this than I thought they would be and that's honestly kind of a huge relief

Psst, an annotated copy of Against Time and Death just came available. Get a piece of multiversal ephemera scribbled in your zine, known only to you and one other person — your rival! Snap it up quick! www.kickstarter.com/projects/ick...

Jeff pretty concisely gets to the heart of what I love about Actual Plays as documentation of the creative process of telling a story through collaborative play. It is, with little exaggeration, my favorite part of APs. More broadening of the ways we think about Actual Play (and gaming as a whole)!

Go Birds.

Its a bird, its a plane, its a dude who hates the klan! (Also known as Superman) This week on the podcast Host Brenda reminds us that the Superman radio show existed, how it shaped the canon of Supes AND that this dude really hated the klan. Link below!
