Only one week left for Nebula nominations! Please consider my dark fantasy novella Ghost Apparent.

My novella, Ondine’s Curse, is now available! With this story, I wanted to emulate the classic Gothic novels of the 18th Century, mixing that inspiration with some folklore and magic to produce a novella that explores the relationship between the female imagination, reading, and sexuality.

If you see this, and you're in the mood for this kind of thing, quote post with a beach photo from your gallery.

My proof of Ondine’s Curse has arrived! The book will be officially available on Tuesday, but you should already be able to get it from some vendors. Link below

Reminder to comment on that art post or fanfic, and drop a review of that book. Telling creatives what you think, even if it’s just a one line sentence, truly does make a difference! And I don’t just mean ‘engagement’. I mean it will make their day. Tell someone when you love their work 🤍

If you're looking for a non-Tordotcom novella to nominate (Hugo, Nebula), why not give Ghost Apparent a chance?

quote of the day

Writing in English as an ESL writer, and then reading your work translated to your native tongue by someone else is a very strange experience.

If you want to know more about me, my already published books, as well as my next novel (😲💔💀), you might want to check out this interview fanfiaddict.com/author-chat-...

No, readers can't all divest from Amazon yet. Let's talk why, and how to make it possible in the future. (I didn't intend to put up a blog post until the weekend, but I got a bee in my bonnet about this one.) #booksky #bookblog

okay this is a CALL FOR ESSAY PITCHES! I'm looking for freelance writers for Reactor Mag, a long-running SFF website (formerly tor dot com not the publisher). Im the senior editor for book content, focusing on contemporary sci-fi, fantasy, gothic, horror, and genre-defying books. (details below)

Helpful!

Imagine if Hollywood movie stars never talked about their films. Or if famous chefs never talked about their food. Or if designers never posted photos of the clothes they made. But indie authors should never talk about their books. Sure.

Luckily, TikTok doesn't sell my books, and neither does Facebook. Twitter did for a little while but then stopped. Instagram is a tight echo chamber. BlueSky is a lost case. When you're an indie writer, all social media is mostly useless to you.

Discworld QOTD, from Soul Music “In my experience, what every true artist wants, really wants, is to be paid.”

God damn it. Now I won't be able to unsee it. #Dragons

Welcome #booktok refugees. There are so many book lovers here on BlueSky, and indie authors and a thriving writing community. Oh, and Ella welcomes you too!

Jamedi is a reviewing powerhouse and I'm so happy Ghost Apparent is on this list with so many excellent books!
