Gentle reminder to myself that just because someone I know is being cuttingly sarcastic without much context does not mean I have to fearfully scan the internet to figure out what they mean or take their sharpness into the most tender parts of my being. I can just mute them and live my life.

But I have been related to someone who did really bad things and when they died my friends expected me to celebrate and that isn’t how I felt, and I can’t help but think how weird it must be for the family. (Not everyone who does bad things gets generational wealth out of it by the way.)

The gravy turned out FINE by the way—a couple days chilling in the fridge made all the difference! Also thank goodness M likes carving! It’s 2024 so between dinner and pie we shared funny videos on our phones.

I’m proud mostly that I laid out a simple week long plan that made it all actually stress free, not that much to do on the day. Now M and I will wash many dishes (by which I mean, soak and rinse) and watch the GBBO finale and Claire Saffitz make malomars.

Yesterday I broke down the turkey and got it dry brining, and made 4 1/2 quarts of stock. Today I made possibly flavorless gravy??? Also a lot of timelines.
