My therapist, who is firing me because I'm a catastrophic failure who can't stop paying attention to the news, sent her official referral e-mail on my last day of vacation. Whatever feelings I had from vacation vaporized as I read it and was dragged back to earth (see also Sunday's Mace skeet). 1/7

Iowa law says nomination affidavits need "A statement that the candidate is aware that the candidate is disqualified from holding office if the candidate has been convicted of a felony or other infamous crime." A bill on the governor's desk says that does not apply to candidates for federal office.

This is WRONG. That gas station is in Shamrock, Texas, way up on I-40 (old US 66), 13 miles west of the Oklahoma line. It's the inspiration for one of the buildings in "Cars."
