“Now that real car companies make electric vehicles, there’s just no way that Tesla can maintain its previous unchallenged market share, and that’s before you factor in their CEO being a Nazi who is destroying his company’s brand with the people most likely to buy his cars.”

“You’re terminated because…?” Fired federal employees are telling their stories—no deep state, just career public servants tossed aside. DOGE’s mass firings aren’t about efficiency—they’re gutting expertise, wrecking lives, and calling it “reform.”

$38 billion

EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin urged the White House to repeal the 2009 "endangerment finding," which supports regulating greenhouse gases under the Clean Air Act. Reversing it would undermine climate protection.

The new Muslim Ban is coming into effect on March 20th; it is boring, it is sneaky, it is worse than the last one by far, and it is trying to make the Muslim Ban normal forever. My latest in @thenation.com www.thenation.com/article/poli...

A seven-byline story from WaPo: “.. Over the years, Musk and his businesses have received at least $38 billion in government contracts, loans, subsidies and tax credits ..” @washingtonpost.com $TSLA www.washingtonpost.com/technology/i...

Oklahoma Sen. Shane Jett (R-Shawnee) says a bill to ban school officials from using corporal punishment against disabled children is "socialist" and "not in the interest of children or civilized society."

In Indiana, 16 and 17-year-olds can now work the same hours as adults and are no longer restricted by school hours and days. They also can work overnight without an adult and perform hazardous agriculture jobs. Many 14- and 15-year-olds can now work during school hours as well.

This vote was to start the process of the cuts. It WILL come back for a final vote. There are some chances to slow or potentially stop it. Need constant pressure on GOP Focus on GOP swing seats & key committees. Energy & Commerce is where the Medicaid fight will go down. Ways&Means for tax fight.

A group of prominent military contractors, including former Blackwater CEO Erik Prince, has pitched the Trump White House on a proposal to carry out mass deportations through a network of “processing camps” on military bases and a “small army” of private citizens empowered to make arrests.

House Rs just passed the budget resolution, the first step in their process to enact a bill that'd kick millions off Medicaid & cut SNAP down to just $1.60 per person per meal on avg while cutting taxes for the top 0.1% by $278k - all while increasing the debt 🧵on what's to come and WHERE TO FIGHT

It’s too early to say, but it looks possible that the second Trump administration’s legacy will be dismantling social security.

The government punishing a law firm for defending a client seems like the kind of tyranny we fought a revolution against.

NEW: @law360.bsky.social has created a *public* database of legal cases involving President Trump's executive orders and other actions. The data is searchable and sortable and will be updated regularly; links to coverage for subscribers. Graphics by @benjayingly.com www.law360.com/trump-legal-...

The federal government is characterizing *federally approved* LGBTQ+ groups as "sexually explicit" and using it to purge anyone who is queer or trans. Abominable.

Don’t be too quick to judge if you so happen to see this Trump bumper sticker on a car😉

A newly hired advisor at DOJ is a former judge who received what was then Oregon's longest-ever suspension for misconduct. He also made the news for "for having hung a picture of Adolf Hitler in his courthouse." talkingpointsmemo.com/news/doj-hir...

“An unidentified illness has killed scores of people and infected hundreds in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the World Health Organization has reported” Well - I guess the USA doesn’t have to worry about this one since Trump pulled us out of WHO just in time. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/25/w...

Medicaid covers: - 21% of Americans nationally - 83 million low-income Americans - 4 in 10 children - 1 in 4 adults with disabilities - Nearly 50% of kids with special needs - 41% of births nationwide - 5 in 8 nursing home residents - 32% of people in Mike Johnson's home state

61% of children born in Louisiana are born under a Medicaid plan. When this budget passes, it will destroy our state. The poorest of the poor. The sickest of the sick. And the passage of this bill is being led by our very own Mike Johnson

I don't really use the term "propaganda" lightly, but I think we should outline what's happening at the White House and elsewhere: the rise of a new state media. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

This is a gut-wrenching, beautifully written essay. A doctor must watch helplessly as children die because USAID's freeze on aid has limited access to nutritional supplements. time.com/7258248/us-f...

The best way to confront a bully about the misinformation he is spreading is to confront him in front of everyone. Macron just did that.

It’s all so painfully stupid. Selling off all government EVs presumably at a loss, so you can buy new gas vehicles that you don’t need, and shutting down charging points that cost money to install for new reason. It’s so petty and stupid. www.thedrive.com/news/trump-i...

BIG: DC Metro Police decided they had sufficient evidence to arrest sitting GOP Congressman and sent warrant request to USATTY's office. Acting USATTY Martin, who's been explicitly acting as Trump's personal attorney, ignored it. talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/big-b...

A Republican congressman assaulted the woman he was having an affair with. DC police was ready to arrest him, but they can’t because the U.S. attorney who today proclaimed itself “President Trump’s lawyer” won’t sign a warrant against a Republican.

Excellent reporting on the nascent New Orleans Tourism/Police State Zone. (Having State Police roam the city during Carnival is a very bad idea. This kind of thing is not their specialty.)

Seems related.

Trump appointees at USAID tell staff they're firing 2,000 employees and putting almost all other direct hires worldwide on leave. Those living overseas need to return soon if they want USAID to pay airfare. Some expect to be fired once they return. Story: www.nytimes.com/2025/02/23/u...

For folks who are watching the video of the woman in Kootenai County, Idaho being dragged out of the townhall by (literal) brownshirts, and are (understandably) distressed and wondering, “What can we do if we see this happening?”: May I introduce you to the tactic of de-arresting?
