I had not expected my first autonomous vehicle ride to be in Abu Dhabi! WeRide-based, dispatched by Uber. Clearly not up to Waymo performance yet — safety driver, limited coverage, wonky drop-off — but a comfortable ride.

I understand it’s snark, but honestly slightly annoyed by commentary that Musk’s kids can’t do anything because federal payment systems are in COBOL. My first(ish) job at 14(ish) was converting a FORTRAN suite into Visual Basic. I knew, I think, AppleSoft BASIC and Borland Pascal at the time. 1/
