Paying kidney donors would save tens of thousands of lives every year. The End Kidney Deaths Act is in the House right now to do so. We don't have to accept deaths from kidney disease. We know how to save these lives. We just have to take the step. thedispatch.com/article/end-...

Republicans spent years complaining that free speech was under attack. Now Donald Trump is instituting a new Thought Police and they've all gone silent about it. www.infinitescroll.us/p/the-new-ag...

Sarah Wynn-Williams’ new book, Careless People, isn’t just a collection of darkly funny stories that are embarrassing for Facebook’s leadership. It’s also a sign of our current political era, where carelessness and incuriosity are virtues and not vices. www.infinitescroll.us/p/internet-b...

I really hope Elon keeps doing his 'choose a person to pay a million dollars for coming to his rally'. Because it's actually a very stupid, ineffective way to spend a million dollars and may even have a net negative impact because it feels skeezy.

No idea how you even get through here

Because I can't resist poking the bear - should people really hate the Studio Ghibli AI art as much as they do? No other topic I write about seems to get people as mad as the AI art discourse. www.infinitescroll.us/p/weekly-scr...

Democrats can't just sit around talking about messaging strategy. They need to change their actual policies if they want to win. thedispatch.com/article/demo...

MAGA fans responding to an escalating tariff war:

Tariffs are a policy to shoot yourself directly in the foot because you think the bullet might pass through your foot and also hit some other poor bastard

I’m trying to dial down the US politics as it’s not my specialism and enough others do it, & can do it better. However, @jeremiahdjohns.bsky.social has come up with ‘vice signalling’ and it’s a concept that resonates. www.infinitescroll.us/p/jd-vance-a...

Per @jeremiahdjohns.bsky.social on another platform: “It's very interesting that some folks are completely unaware that Bill Clinton balanced the budget, reduced the debt, and reduced federal spending as a percent of GDP. “I guess because he's a Democrat?”

Here is a primer on the Abundance Agenda—and how Republicans and Democrats alike have failed to embody it, though certainly not in the same way or to the same degree. @jeremiahdjohns.bsky.social

One of the gaps between AI skeptics and boosters: Most people want to see AI do stuff that isn't essentially 'write a book report'. Fully self-driving cars, develop new cancer meds, a robot than can fold the laundry. That's what people want, not a summarization machine.

The Deep State is on social media and DeepSeek is freaking people out. It's time to get deep: www.infinitescroll.us/p/weekly-scr...

Three years ago, @dkthomp.bsky.social coined the term “the abundance agenda” to describe a plan that could be the antidote to society’s manufactured scarcity. Over at @theunpopulist.net, @jeremiahdjohns.bsky.social explains.

A primer on the Abundance Agenda—a new kind of politics seeking to overcome our capitulation to scarcity—by @jeremiahdjohns.bsky.social.

The easiest political prediction in the world was "Trump's newfound popularity will only last until he starts actually doing things"

One of the things I appreciate most about @mattyglesias.bsky.social is that even when everyone else is talking about culture war stuff, he continues to hammer the basic point that Republicans want to cut taxes for the rich and pay for it by cutting trillions of dollars that help poor people.

Lots of folks, left and right, tend to celebrate the slow death of traditional media and the surge of new media. But rarely do they sit down and reckon with who they're elevating as they knock the CNN/WaPo types down to size.
