✨ Nice surprise: the first part of the ten-part titular, eponymous poem "Gratitude Diary," which organizes my first collection, featured on Every Day Poems today open.substack.com/pub/everyday...

When someone out of the blue does a close read and then shares it with the world, that's a boost you want them to get back many times over. Thanks to reviewer Glynn Young and to L.L. Barkat at Tweetspeak Poetry. www.tweetspeakpoetry.com/2025/02/18/p...

It's annoying how clearly this is going to play out. They gut the FAA. Therefore, the FAA can't do its job well because it was gutted. Therefore, they say "The FAA sucks, we have to privatize it." which is what Project 2025 wants to do. They're manufacturing the crises for their end goal.

See you at our little gathering at the courthouse at noon today? 🇺🇸

Read poems at the local library today, and people stood up after and read theirs in community. Really, nothing like that. Who knew? #WatsonvillePublicLibrary

None of this is legal:

This is VERY good news. Love bookshop.org and all the stuff they do! www.salon.com/2025/01/28/b...

That time when, recording three poems at the beach for DMQ, a family walked by, oblivious, and you just had to feel happy for them because they were so happy www.dmqreview.com/salon?fbclid...

Available at my local shops--Bookshop Santa Cruz and Two Birds Books in Pleasure Point--and online from the publisher mainstreetragbookstore.com/product/grat... Trying to get this first collection out there without using Amazon. My small press publisher is no oligarch. We'll see how it goes.

Plato was made for social media. First tries to mansplain about how Homer didn’t write the Odyssey right, and is so wrong that he eventually doubles down until he’s arguing that poets don’t belong in society 😅

Don't beat yourself up about how long you've been away from your writing practice. The important thing is to go back. Tonight, why not read the last pages you wrote?

Did everybody see this? Everybody should see this. While you are distracted by those who shall go unnamed are acting out to enrage you and distract you, the minions with names you will never know are rolling out stuff they all planned long ago. www.ed.gov/about/news/p...

My first poetry book is now circulating in my library system and wow I wish my mom were alive

The number of articles I’ve read that say “trump signs executive order pulling America out of *blank* here’s how it affects you” is astounding. Also where were all these articles when he was running?

Banksy drops another bomb.

Helpful!

Depressed. Already canceled the NYT. Was holding out hope for WaPo, but today, today, . . . good-bye WaPo. God, I used to love my Sundays with a floor covered with the different sections of a great newspaper and some donuts and refills of coffee.

Not sure who needs to hear this (WaPo), but "storytelling" is making stuff up.

"They would have found him guilty"

Seen in Venice Beach today

better, i think, when i work on a poem, to believe i have something to learn rather than something to say

To geek is to feel fully alive. www.oed.com/information/...

Inter / Act is a great group / venue. Glad for the chance to help keep the poetry going into 2025.

I'm buying. (Thanks to the SDPA, the guild, and all involved. Submitting can be so thankless. Then comes a day.)

I confess. Every day, I go on X just to block a few people. I block idiots, mainly. But I block people I like too, when they are still on X saying stupid stuff to get likes. But I have this bad habit down to just a few minutes.

Respect to @anntelnaes.bsky.social for quitting the Washington Post due to censorship over her on-point cartoon. More of this from artists and writers, please. Don't obey in advance, especially to the broligarchy.

This is the Ann Telnaes cartoon the Washington Post refused to publish. Telnaes, who has been at the Post since 2008, resigned. I think it’s our job to insure that the cartoon gets tons more attention than it would’ve if the Post had simply run it.
