Brad Lander lost the race but he’s only 55 and still has a bright future.

Thoughts and prayers

this is why i am pretty confident there will not be a meaningful attempt to do an end run around mamdani. a lot of elite cuomo support seemed to be based on “well, he’s probably going to win and he’s a vindictive asshole and i don’t want to be on his bad side.”

Brad Lander showed what Elizabeth Warren should have done in 2020: unify progressives rather than trying to stab the frontrunner in the back.

ZOHRAN AND BERNIE WERE IN THE CLOSET MAKING SOCIALISM AND I SAW ONE OF THE SOCIALISMS AND THE SOCIALISM PUSHED ME INTO THE EAST RIVER WHICH WAS ICED OVER SOMEHOW

This is a great piece. Teachers could also hear the message: teach what you love. Chances are you became an English teacher because you love literature or a 2nd grade teacher because you love young kids— not because you wanted to teach students to use a tech for some future job you can’t predict.

Zohran winning a city of 8 million people without doing weird triangulating or distancing himself from left movements is so refreshing and inspiring and just omg 😭

NYC and MPLS may be apples and oranges, but the narrative element in all this matters: Seeing Mamdani crush it feels like that moment in a movie where they’re like “wait a second… the zombies are allergic to SALT!” And then you see a montage of people all over the world grabbing salt shakers.

🤣🤣🤣🤣

"I wonder why the endorsements from 78-year-old Bill Clinton, 80-year-old James Carville, and 84-year-old Jim Clyburn didn't garner more votes among Democrats for the 67-year-old sex pest who resigned as governor in disgrace," thinks the Centrist Dem. "I knew we should've brought out Liz Cheney."

I wonder if the democratic establishment will see this result and will consider not spending millions of dollars and all of its political will and energy backing unpopular bad candidates that everyone hates, lol jk

man the cowardice of democratic leaders who refused to oppose Cuomo looks worse and worse right now. primary them all

I just want to be clear: The vast majority of Jewish New Yorkers I know are enthusiastic Mamdani supporters.

Cuomo conceded.

Hope and solidarity won tonight, and will win again in November. Congratulations, @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social

What matters is that Cuomo and all the people who endorsed him are still going to claim they're the rightful heirs to the Democratic Party, how dare young people challenge them, all of that. The difference is they're now just unaffiliated lunatics, banging on the windows. They're not the party.

If you're a member of the Democratic gerontocracy, the chances of you catching a primary challenger just went up 1000%.

Andrew Cuomo gets publicly humiliated. Bill Clinton learns his endorsement is worth less than dogshit. What a great time to be a hater. A golden age.

This was truly an incredible piece capturing so much about this moment. FWIW, I see the notion of “accompaniment” as central to what we do as educators as well as what we need as citizens interested in justice right now.

according to conservatives on the court, the constitution does not protect your right to your own body but does enable the government to ship you off to a foreign gulag without any hope of return

Was searching through email for an old contact and was reminded of this article from Rethinking Schools in 2008: “The Laptops are coming! The Laptops are coming!” It was written by someone I know … so I read it again. And … uh … the more things change… rethinkingschools.org/articles/the...

Come on, it’s not like the former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development has any personal experience to bring to the table

I often get annoyed at anti-Democrat posts here that paint with a broad brush or expect them to have super powers. But there are factions within the party that are absolutely toxic in terms of both policy and personality. And they are holding us back as a party and as a country.

I’ve thought a lot about what it means to “AI-proof” one’s classroom; 4 things stood out from this: 1. Knowing Ss 2. Being Ss’ thought partner 3. Grounding their writing in who they are so they can’t hide their own voice 4. Valuing sensemaking over the transaction It’s about humanizing education.

‘I became a teacher so I can read scripted lessons written by folks who haven’t taught in a decade in order to prepare students to take a standardized test written above their grade level!’ Said no teacher ever

REALLY hate how I was proven right less than 24 hours later.

No matter which party is in charge, there is a bipartisan vote every year that raises the military budget. Every. Year. Understand, while members of Congress posture themselves as anti-war, the vote to approve a war would likely look similar to the military budget vote.

My immediate reaction to this is an increased desire to see the Epstein Files released.

I’m old enough to remember that George Clooney originally made the film GOOD NIGHT, AND GOOD LUCK—which we just saw reenacted on CNN—as a critique of the effort to silence those who opposed the Iraq War. Time is a flat circle, and I feel so very old…
