We have a cool new job that just opened up at the museum. Head of Conservation ($50-$88K) Be the champion for the conservation activities and the related messaging for the NC Museum of Natural Sciences. www.governmentjobs.com/careers/%7B0...

My sister is really getting into birding and I love getting her texts about new backyard birds. In the last 24 hours she has identified a Yellow-headed Blackbird and Wilson’s Snipe in her backyard. Birding really is such a great way for people to connect with nature and their local wildlife!

One of my favourite papers I've been involved in was just published in @peerj.bsky.social. Working with a wonderful team of ecologists at @weecology.bsky.social, we used multivariate ecological forecasts to understand the population dynamics of desert rodents peerj.com/articles/189... 🌎 #rstats

Given the daily delivery of horrible coming out of the new administration, it’s hard to keep track of everything. But it’s important to not look away and not forget that this is happening. visiblemagazine.com/can-we-speak...

I'm excited to share my new research published today with @oryxthejournal.bsky.social about a topic close to my heart - The work to stop wildlife poaching in the Mediterranean. Open access: www.cambridge.org/core/journal...

Please enjoy watching this male long-tailed macaque playing with a bunch of babies. Daycare in the forest and the best baby sitter ever. Images are from one of our camera traps in the community forests of #Cambodia. #biodiversity #cameratrap #fieldwork

There’s some really exciting work happening in #AI and #conservation. Do you use data from cameras, acoustics, drones or satellites to understand biodiversity? The Biodiversity Monitoring starter pack might be for you! Point me to your research to be added 🧪🌏 go.bsky.app/eFMQQX

This is an excellent meeting for students, especially if you are nervous about presenting at your first conference. Usually 100-200 people, lots of other students, very friendly and supportive group. Plus, several days of amazing bird science! Get your abstract in and apply for ✈️ 💰!

To everyone interested in our annual event in Ogden, Utah this year, please follow the hashtag #AFOrnithevents! We hope to see you there for a celebration of ornithology 🙌

Please spread the word - I am looking for a postdoc to join my lab at @osubpp.bsky.social to study diversity and interactions of plants and pathogens in wild and working landscapes! More information here: agsci-labs.oregonstate.edu/diseaseecolo...

Hello there! We are the Association of Field Ornithologists. Here you'll find content about #ornithology; #birdconservation; #fundingopportunities; #peer-reviewpublishing; #birdresearch; #latinamericanoutreach and more! Are you a professional or avocational field ornithologist? 🙌Welcome to AFO🙌

I'm summarizing some of our lab group's forest bird research at the Seven Scapes Bird Alliance meeting tomorrow (Wednesday @ 6 pm). Old growth & climate, hummingbirds, and intensive forest management. If interested, you can register here: zoom.us/webinar/regi... @oregonstate.edu

First paper from my postdoc is out in #EcologicalMonographs w/ @ecologicalsociety.bsky.social! We looked at patterns of summer co-occurrence among 5 predators at 3 time scales to assess how competition, prey, & habitat affected predator distributions in north Idaho, USA. dx.doi.org/10.1002/ecm....

Harsher Amazonian dry seasons caused by climate change are linked to declining bird survival in 'pristine' Amazonia. Happy that NBC Conservation Awards Programme modestly financed some of the very early stages of this work. doi.org/10.1126/scia... #ornithology

In the midst of all this chaos and badness, excited to see this first paper out from our vineyard/songbird project. Birds didn't do much damage to grapes at all... though it was a weird year! Check out the paper (and so much more cool work to come) escholarship.org/uc/item/7841...

Increased demand for wood, in combination with climate change and fires, pose serious challenges for biodiversity and carbon storage. Which landscape planning strategies minimize negative impacts? New paper by @colinmast.bsky.social! 🧪https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10980-024-02041-5

🔥 Just out 🔥 our paper featuring a method to account for disequilibrium dynamics & time lags in species distribution model #SDM is published in Ecology Letters ⬇️ It outperforms traditional SDMs for 95% of the 92 European forest 🦅 species we tested @etiennelalechere.bsky.social shorturl.at/CVYPw

Job opportunity for field techs in the Forest Landscape Lab (flel.forestry.oregonstate.edu) at OSU. These positions focus on long-term songbird responses to intensive forest management and involve bioacoustics. If you have skills in PNW bird ID, please apply: jobs.oregonstate.edu/postings/163...

I love Corvallis and OSU! This department is fantastic and Ethan will be a great advisor.

Corvallis is a great place to live and OSU would be a great place to get your degree.

As the LA fires burn your feeds will be inundated with wildfire misinformation. Be skeptical of oversimplification. Do not amplify posts that lacks nuance. Info not coming from a rock solid source should not be shared. Our evergreen paper: esajournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/...

🚨New paper 🚨We argue that abrupt biodiversity losses can be driven by populations sharing similar tolerances to warming 🦋🌎🥵. Out now in @royalsocietypublishing.org. Summary thread below 🧵 royalsocietypublishing.org/doi/epdf/10....

New paper! 🦠🐭🦟 Perspectives on the route towards a 'people and nature' paradigm for biodiversity-disease research and action, with fantastic co-authors @profkatej.bsky.social, @dwredding.bsky.social and Sagan Friant. royalsocietypublishing.org/doi/10.1098/...

Our article in @methodsinecoevol.bsky.social on migratory connectivity, data integration, bidirectional data, and more just came out! 🧵 (eventually) besjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...
