Hurrah! this is the way a fellow feels when he’s going to Davy Jones—all a rush down an endless inclined plane!

"...there has been no mass organizing movement as many had hoped. One reason is the absence of a practical alliance between Mexican independent unions and the U.S. and Canadian unions in the same industries." labornotes.org/blogs/2025/0...

defendandrecruit.org - get trained up, everyone.

Hey @halbfinger.bsky.social, could you or someone else at the Times explain how firing a qualified senior general “root[s] out diversity initiatives?” Which initiative specifically did this “root out?”

When Mitch saw the breadth of his destruction, he wept for there were no more countries to ruin.

Lets put this in "business" terms. If you have an arm of your firms that costs $50k to operate, but it produces $500k in profits, and you cut it, you don't save $50k, you lose $450k. By cutting billions, they have the potential to reduce future growth by the trillions.

when i say that there are people who care less about workers and their rights than they do the primacy of a masculinist blue collar identity politics, i am taking about people like sean o’brien

This is not a "dumb comment." It is a speech act at the very heart of Trump's worldview, and it, once again, highlights his affinity for kings and dictators. It also suggests that Trump thinks the "great" in MAGA refers not to the 19th century but to the period before American Independence.

I think most people are intuitively aware of this but something like the official White House account posting an “ASMR” video of shackled immigrants is not just cruel for its own sake, it’s intentional envelope-pushing to ramp up to desensitization over inhumane detention, camps, and deaths

In which the time to think is now.https://www.nytimes.com/2025/02/15/opinion/trump-autocracy-bad-ideas.html?smid=nytcore-android-share

This weasel actually insists it’s a “longstanding norm” that only the president or his attorney general can say “what the law is” which is, of course, absolute garbage.

"You should have never started it" -- Trump to Ukraine, which very much did not start the war

Trump issues new executive order: Only the president can speak for “what the law is” It was fun doing democracy with you.

so far going anti-woke leads to less money and planes falling out of the sky

This is fascism.

American Psycho sequel just dropped

the single most un-american and anti-constitutional statement ever uttered by an american president

In response to the erasure of trans history at stonewall, I suggest we reenact that pivotal moment in queer history by throwing bricks through the windows of Tesla dealers and Trump properties. Teslas themselves are also fair game.

"Stonewall is transgender history"

this is a good example of the attitude that has led democrats down the road to disaster. it rests on the belief that public opinion cannot be shaped or mobilized or moved, only reacted to

[email protected] is calling things out more directly than the US media on Trump.

I mean, Jesus Christ, can you people even *hear* yourself? I'm about to die of secondhand embarrassment just reading this crap.

A billionaire who has attached himself to the federal government while sucking massive amounts of money from it thinks *other* people are “parasites”

What a remarkable self-own. It’s like watching a bunch of firefighters stand around looking at a burning house, annoyed because people keep calling them about it. “What do you want us to do? We didn’t set the fire! Call the arsonist.”

The AP must refuse this but more importantly the rest of the White House Correspondents Association should back them. Boycott the press briefings until they relent, and if they refuse, walk out. There is no real use to them in any case. Trump craves attention. Deny him that and he’ll cave.

We all need to start using the word "coup." They're well past the point where Hitler starts dictates his Enabling Act. I talk to Very Serious People who actually believe courts telling Trump that they he is breaking the law will stop this. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/09/u...

This is a rather telling statement. Nearly a third of women in Louisiana are Black. www.businessinsider.com/gop-senator-...

Donald Trump tried to illegally shut down funding for programs that millions of people rely on. Community health centers, Head Start programs, and charities are still having trouble accessing funds. Meanwhile, the taxpayers are paying for Trump's trip to the Super Bowl.

That's because it's unconstitutional and also fascist

Long story short, people who are confidently asserting what's going to happen don't have a clue about what will happen [good or bad]. No one alive knows THE way forward because there is no one way forward. Humility is in order. Humans aren't usually humble.

I see some of you saying that the Democrats warned that all of this would happen with Tr*mp 2 and let's say you're right/correct. Why then were they not prepared to counter from day 1 when he won? Why are they so ineffective? Why should people entrust them with power in the future?

I always thought the IRA was a group of crazed fanatics. Then I was forced to live under the rule of an effete asshole with a ridiculous accent.

the other thing about these moves is that the union becomes untenable if your access to the good faith and protection of the national government is contingent on whether you renounce your co-sovereignty as a state and submit to the whims of a president who has claimed sovereign authority

The logic of the coup that is going on now. And how to resist it. snyder.substack.com/p/the-logic-...

He is weak? Only untill agency that he believes has crossed him by upholding the law stops getting paychecks. Pundits are measuring new realities with no longer salient incumbent concepts. The junta has seized the power of the purse. How could they have more power?? www.nytimes.com/2025/02/02/o...

I rebuke and condemn the monstrous and grotesque racism expressed by Trump & others in their ignorant and crass assignation of blame for this tragedy, which is an affront to Kiah Huggins’ life’s work. Signing off for the night.

This has been a very racist week

If you don’t hear the N word every time a Republican says “DEI” you’re lying to yourself.
