I’m so excited to share the cover for my next book, So Rude! Animals Behaving Badly. Audience: K-3 Grownups say, “Be on your best behavior." But in the animal world, rudeness sometimes rules the day! @lernerbooks.bsky.social @carolhinz.bsky.social @trishtoneylawrence.bsky.social

Hey @5calls.org — I’m surprised you don’t have “stand up for the Library of Congress” on your list of issues given what’s happened in the last week.

I said my main goal of this trip was to meet with Kilmar. Tonight I had that chance. I have called his wife, Jennifer, to pass along his message of love. I look forward to providing a full update upon my return.

DMV area friends, Linda Heyniger Olliver and I will be at Charm City Books in Baltimore on Saturday, April 19 for story time and a craft around our latest book, Wild Wonderings: Scientists and Their Questions. We'd love it if you joined us or shared! www.charmcitybooks.com/events/25301...

Presentation 2 ✔️ Had a pretty full house and great engagement. One more to go… #nstaphilly25

Good morning #NSTAPhilly25! Join me in room 204 C to talk about the nature of science, the practices of scientists, and kids books!

It's National Science Teaching Association's conference week, and many of the 2024-2025 Albert Einstein Fellows will be there to share their expertise. We'd love to see you at one or more of our sessions and posters. Will we see you in Philadelphia? #einsteinfellows24 #NSTASpring25 #Philly25

Celebrate the first day of spring and Women’s History Month by learning about some very talented naturalists and artists, thanks to primary sources from the Library of Congress. Maybe you’ll be inspired to create your own masterpieces! blogs.loc.gov/families/202...

I've been working on a fascinating project at the Library of Congress since this fall, but haven't shared much about it because I wanted to get to a place where I could tell more of the story. Finally, I can. Check out this co-authored blog post! #einsteinfellows24 blogs.loc.gov/preservation...

I'm looking forward to the NSTA National Conference in Philadelphia, PA next week! Join me at one of my sessions, or stop by the Library of Congress booth in the exhibit hall! #NSTA #einsteinfellows24

Friends, a small favor: If you've read and enjoyed one or more of my books, might you consider writing a review on any or all of the following websites: Goodreads, Amazon, NSTA, Barnes and Noble? A review doesn't have to be long -- even a sentence will do -- and is so helpful. Thanks! #kidlit

March 14. 3.14. Pi Day, Albert Einstein’s birthday, and exactly one year from the phone call that set me on this path. Had to commemorate it. Thankful for friends who share their costumes! #einsteinfellows24

I’m excited to share that I'll be a featured author at the Ohioana Book Festival on Saturday, May 3 at the State Library of Ohio! Mark your calendars and join in the fun: panel discussions, food trucks, book signings, character mascots, story times, and a diverse range of genres!

A few scenes from #scbwiNY25. Keynotes from Erin Entrada Kelly and Sophie Blackall, an interview with Peter Brown, reconnecting with writing friends/meeting new ones, and excellent Thai and pizza were the stars of the weekend!

“Making books is a privilege so we should make good ones.” - Sophie Blackall gives an inspiring keynote at #scbwiNY25

“If you have stories that you really love, you will get through the tough parts.” Wonderful words to write by from Peter Brown. #scbwiNY25

You have until Feb. 13 to help stop the destruction of Izembek National Wildlife Refuge—one of the world’s most important migratory bird staging and wintering habitats. Urge the Interior to reject a land exchange that would permanently damage the Refuge. #Alaska

Check out the @sciencewriters.org column, "Advance Copy," to read about my latest book, Wild Wonderings! And thanks, Lynne Lamberg, for the opportunity! #kidlit www.nasw.org/member_artic...

My latest blog post for the Library of Congress’s Teaching with Prinary Sources, is now live! Learn about Ellen Swallow Richards (1842-1911), a chemist who made important strides in water quality. #EinsteinFellows24 blogs.loc.gov/teachers/202...

GenAI has polluted image search results, especially for animal pics. It’s now basically impossible to find accurate art references. Enter this: a repository of open-access, AI-free images of wild & exotic taxa. Artists creating *without AI* have blanket permission for derivative/transformative use.

“Some books get no stickers but STICK in it hearts forever.” I couldn’t love this more. Congratulations to all those authors and illustrators who were recognized today, and congratulations to all who weren’t. Your books all matter. #KidLit

One day after the White House environmental justice website went dark, please join me in welcoming the father of environmental justice to Bluesky. Yes, sociologist @drrobertbullard.bsky.social literally defined the concept in his 1990 book, Dumping in Dixie: Race, Class and Environmental Quality.
