Looking forward to being at Yale School of the Environment later this week for this cool event. Excited to tell - and hear - some new stories about land.

Trying a new property office hour technique today - Cookies and Catching Up. But the cookies are fudge oatmeal bars (made by my daughter!), and the catching up may be not property-related. Times are hard. We're doing our best.

Professor Jessica Shoemaker's (@jessicashoemaker.bsky.social) article, Re-Placing Property, was reviewed by Yael Lifshitz, senior lecturer in Property Law at The Dickson Poon School of Law, King's College London, in JOTWELL: The Journal of Things We Like (Lots). Read on ›› https://buff.ly/4gBm5z7.

Excited to share our latest digest featuring recent work by our very own Project Director @jessicashoemaker.bsky.social this week! Read about the relationship between property law and human placemaking and how a clearer language can help sort out what is at stake. #rural

Just reviewed and commented on 52 student outlines. As much as that task is hard and often thankless, feeling super strongly this morning that it's going to make me a better teacher - what better way for me to GET instant feedback on my teaching than to GIVE feedback on their current work?

Grateful to the incredible Yael Lifshitz who, over at Jotwell, has this kind review of my "Re-Placing Property" piece. Putting this one in my folder for dark days: "Professor Shoemaker’s thoughtful framework offers a different way of understanding the threads that tie property together."

Just finished an exercise in my property class on the Coase Theorem and going to leave these extras - with the note - in the faculty lounge just to see what happens.

Thanks, James! Great to see and learn from so many friends on this one.

Yes, charming.

Your kids are so lucky to be in your library at storytime. (And I'm lucky to write with you!)

This fall, Prof. @jessicashoemaker.bsky.social and @rural-reconcile.bsky.social co-hosted the annual Law and Rurality workshop at the University of Iowa College of Law. The workshop covered scholarship in law, anthropology, planning, sociology, and history. #NELaw Read on ›› go.unl.edu/be8x.

Researching democratic theory in relation to land ownership and have too many PDFs open... Started reading the file in front of me and had this exciting AH HA! moment. Went to go excitedly tell my co-author, @jamesftierney.bsky.social, And, reader: It was us. I was reading our own draft. 🤦

Headed home for the holidays? About to experience your own rural-urban divide at the Thanksgiving table? We’ve got you covered with this recording and summary of our recent Rural Voter event from @rural-reconcile.bsky.social www.ruralreconcile.org/ruralreview/...
