I think the most wrong I have ever been as a political scientist was when I said in a public forum in 2020 that there would not be political violence in the US (Jan 6 was 2 mos later). Tonight’s purges are a clear precursor to more future such violence. This is textbook authoritarian abuse stuff.

I'll say it again purging the highest ranks of the military and replacing them with retired loyalists is what you do directly before you deeploy the military against the domestic population and our allies abroad.

Like if the Institut für Sexualwissenschaft burned the books themselves in hopes it would keep the wolves from the door. Friends, the wolves seek the light.

fuckit, shitty edit incoming

Yes, it is entirely correct to point out that ICE officers do not have any legal authority to break into somebody’s home unless they get a judicial warrant; which they generally cannot do, because judges only issue warrants for probable cause of crimes, not immigration law violations.

Who TF do they think is going to try to shoot Luigi? Are they just willingly upping his sex appeal?

I've been trying to explain this to cis people in my life for weeks and I keep getting variations of the "Are you saying Ben and Glory are somehow connected?" scene

when you roll over for the fascists in charge to keep your federal funding

Cannot describe how dumb this is.

I'm gonna keep reposting examples of people not taking shit because it's important for us to see that you can, simply, reject the shit. Say "Uh... no no no, we will not be tolerating that."

I’m sure that things will get really good for everyone once all the trans people are annihilated. You just have to keep at it and you’ll finally be happy :) you’ll have a good job and salary and you won’t worry about your health. All of that can start once the trans people are dead for some reason

Framing Susan Collins as an opponent of the GOP's reactionary, authoritarian policies at a time when she's been more in lockstep with her party than ever is audacious even for the Maine press. It's misdirection and it's dangerous and it betrays readers. #MEpolitics

At this point, journalists have to seriously consider not using Twitter anymore, in my opinion. (I stopped tweeting in November, for what it's worth.) I get why many are still over there -- but we all have to question why we are helping a platform that actively demonizes and censors us.

"Let's figure out why men become Nazis" isn't a particularly rewarding game, in my opinion. Yes, everyone has reasons for what they do, but the answer to "why does a white man embrace a political system in which white men alone hold power" is fairly self-evident.

Did the @nytimes.com really quote the mf-ing communications director of the Houston YOUNG REPUBLICANS as if he were just some random young Black person who likes Trump? Cause it sure looks like it.

And to think just four days ago, after lecturing the Europeans on free speech, JD Vance was in my Twitter replies lecturing me about free speech too. Oh the shamelessness! This is who they are:
