It would be easy to blame our current situation solely on racism and misogyny. But our biggest issue is the pernicious lie of "fake news" spread by MAGA. If all news is fake news, then you can't trust anything. Facts are meaningless. Experts' opinions have equal weight to outright lies.

Thurmond was the same age as Booker when he set the record Senator Cory Booker just broke. Thurmond was afforded a bathroom break and read from the encyclopedia. Booker held the floor the entire time and delivered a consistent, cogent speech for more than 24 hours. Incredible.

After Dobbs, I really thought MAGA had enough judges bought and paid for to win their coup. But now, many judges seem to be holding the line. I don't know whether to be glad they actually have some morality or glad their hubris won't allow them to completely gut the powers of the judicial branch.

I'm proud to be an Episcopalian today. Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde looked right at #45 and implored him to show mercy to the people who are scared, specifically to the communities of LGBTQ people and immigrants. May we all show such courage.
