To me, a Nazi salute means, "I want to murder your family." There can be no irony about it: It puts deep anger and hatred in my heart to see it done and I will never forgive anyone who justifies or minimizes it.

This image from my youth has been coming back to me: It was during the Vietnam War, and a leftist newspaper had the headline, "Enemy Bombs Hanoi." I've been thinking about that a lot lately.

every new restaurant in every major city is either called Thistle+Thorn and thinks adding turmeric to brussel sprouts makes them worth $30 or is called Burger Bitch and has a neon sign in the window that says “im gonna fuck a hamburger”

I've been Windows and PC person since before there was Windows, but as my current laptop is getting cranky, thinking of switching to a Mac. I use it mainly for writing, video conferencing, and consumption of media. Some of the places I write in don't have wifi, so a Chromebook is out. Thoughts?

It's so much easier to be angry than to feel the pain of an other. . . . . . . That's it. That's all I got.

Just pausing to observe that right now Palestinian activists and intellectuals are doing a better job of calling out antisemitism than Elon Musk.

The subversion is real, it's the democracy that's aspirational.

Ah ha ha!

If you're a Jewish leader, and think that by making a statement about a crisis in Israeli democracy (having said nothing about the Occupation, or the condition of Israeli Arabs), you're demonstrating some kind of moral courage, Pastor Neimoller would like a word with you.
