Very informative article, well worth reading. www.aljazeera.com/opinions/202...

How kind of Netflix to inform me that my subscription price has been 'upgraded'. An interesting euphemism for *increased*!

Went through the whole day not knowing Barclays was down. Now worried about various payments in and out but at least I've always got cash on me. A sign to everyone that going cashless would be a huge mistake.

Big tech is now formally in league with the far-right. The resistance to it will be personal and political iandunt.substack.com/p/how-to-res...

I see Labour is continuing its policies of 'tough on the poor, gentle on the rich'.

I see Starmer fans apparently happy with him breaking rules to build homes, as if building them will solve everything. No one seems to be mentioning the tiny issue of how people will be able to afford them. They will not be council houses. Most people who want their own home can't afford a mortgage.

Rachel Reeves is watering down her tax raid on non-doms. She told editor Emma Tucker: “We have been listening to the concerns that have been raised by the non-dom community.” Shame She doesn't listen to the concerns of campaigners like me & the Disabled people freezing to death in their homes.

AI is dangerous and we should literally turn it off. I love tech, but injecting AI into our veins is a disaster in the making in countless ways.

Ask yourselves - what has any UK government done for us since about 2007/8? And just what does the current set of stooges intend to do for the population right now? It seems to be all about what we can do for them, and what they can then do for the rich. No wonder we're depressed.

It’s ok to have a little cry isn’t it, about how capitalist forces are marching on, exploiting absolutely everyone except the extremely wealthy and powerful? That’s what I’ve just done. Now dusted myself off and ready to fight back (and make some cookies 🍪)

This is what cluelessness looks like. Just grab that asp (snake) and put it right to your country's neck! www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

So, the UK government of 'grown ups' has turned out to be utterly clueless. All of their prescriptions are going to kill or seriously sicken the patient and they seem unable or unwilling to look at any alternatives.

I’m so fed up of politicians denying the NHS the resources it needs to save lives, deflecting blame elsewhere, and then funnelling more and more money into private company hands. It’s grotesque. Patients are dying.

Quite pleased with this one. Wordle 1,302 3/6 ⬜⬜⬜⬜⬜ ⬜⬜⬜⬜🟨 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩

It's cold out there!

Although it did snow here yesterday, it didn't settle. So it's just another dingy winter morning then, nothing photogenic.

Hmm, started off well on here but now seem to have arrived in the normal zone as per Twitter with zero engagement. Can't really hang around on Twitter much longer but not finding much to make me post here either. Not moaning, just observing.

I'm going to say it again. It's 4 and a half years until the next election. A hell of a lot can happen in that time so why are we all just wringing our hands and waiting for fascism? It's up to us to change this and we won't do that by constantly checking the polls and panicking.

My name is Dr. Yipeng Ge. I am a family doctor. I am calling for the immediate release of Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya. He was abducted by the Israeli forces. I am calling for protection of hospitals and medical workers in Gaza. And an end to the genocide. #FreeDrHussamAbuSafiya

AI 'managed consent' set to bring about the 'intention economy' where all your decisions are pre-empted and nudged to favour political and economic outcomes of corporations working hand in hand with govts. Terrifyingly dystopian. 1/2 www.theguardian.com/technology/2...

One thing is certain: we've now seen the Milgram experiment at work in the real world. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milgram...

If all the world's leaders and media protested about Dr Hossam Abu Safiya's captivity - and that of the other staff and patients - something would be done. Instead they all seem to be supine. Their inaction enables and even encourages worse acts.

It's shocked me to see people who are surely snug in their heated houses with plenty of covers to sleep under questioning how people and babies in Gaza could die of cold. I've been cold inside an unheated house but I still had blankets. Imagine having none and then rain and wind as well!

When burning hospitals are no longer news ‘The silence over the demise of Kamal Adwan Hospital is deafening. The world has fully accepted Israel’s genocide’ aje.io/i3k7pq

Israel has destroyed the last remaining hospital in northern Gaza. We have witnessed the total decimation of Palestinian healthcare, met with silence from political leaders who refuse to acknowledge the horrors they have enabled. This is the dehumanising reality of genocide.

A Palestinian doctor who is facing Israel’s torture chambers for simply saving lives - where are the outraged senators and European officials? Where are the crystal clear delineations of morals and values? That this isn’t who we are? The demands to release this medical staff hostage?

This was linked on Twitter by Naomi Wimborne-Idrissi and I can't find her on here so thought I'd repost it. Sad and moving. A Jewish American's horror at what's happening in Gaza. jewschool.com/on-finding-o...

Am I alone in feeling today we've reached a peak of horror and viciousness in Gaza as well as a peak of indifference from most of our politicians? I loathe the word, but I feel that today the world is bathed in evil.

“A lead organization monitoring for food crises around the world withdrew a new report this week warning of imminent famine in north Gaza under what it called Israel’s “near-total blockade,” after the U.S. asked for its retraction” The US govt is sick.

Approximately 75 patients and injured people at Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza are facing severe health risks after being forced by the Israeli army to move to the hospital courtyard in cold weather, without consideration for their critical conditions.

It's puzzling me that so soon into the new (obviously terrible) government everyone is sizzling about 'the next election' which is, barring a fresh idiocy, over four years away. Anyone would think it was just months from now. Anything can happen in that 4 years, hopefully not all bad.

I'm reading 'Normal Women' by Philippa Gregory and I'm now convinced that William the Conqueror is at the root of all the problems in the UK and especially England. 1066 - Doomsday indeed.

Party Games - the most genius episode ever of Yes Minister - now showing on BBC Four. Nostalgia night indeed.

Does Anyone Care about the problems going on at the UK NHS Hospitals ?? What about You Nigel? you seem to be overly busy-bodying these days so lets hear what you plan to do to fix this mess.
